The Electrical Supervisor is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all electrical systems across a 4 million square foot healthcare campus. This role oversees maintenance staff, ensures compliance with healthcare regulations, and supports critical infrastructure required for patient care, including emergency power and life safety systems. Education & Experience High school diploma or GED required; technical degree preferred Licensed electrician (Journeyman or Master preferred, depending on state requirements) 5-10+ years of electrical experience, with at least 2-4 years in a supervisory role Experience in healthcare or large commercial/industrial facilities strongly preferred Technical Skills Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems and emergency power systems Familiarity with healthcare compliance standards and critical environment operations Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) Soft Skills Leadership and team management Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities Effective communication with staff, leadership, and contractors Ability to prioritize in a high-pressure, 24/7 operational environment Leadership & Supervision Supervise, train, and schedule a team of electricians and electrical technicians Assign daily work orders and preventive maintenance tasks Provide technical guidance and enforce safety protocols Participate in hiring, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions Electrical Systems Management Oversee maintenance and operation of: Medium- and low-voltage distribution systems Emergency generators and backup power systems (UPS, ATS) Lighting systems (interior, exterior, and critical care lighting) Fire alarm and life safety electrical components Ensure continuous operation of critical hospital systems with minimal downtime Preventive & Corrective Maintenance Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs Respond to electrical failures and coordinate rapid repairs Maintain accurate maintenance logs, testing records, and compliance documentation Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., NFPA, NEC, Joint Commission, OSHA) Support inspections and audits by regulatory agencies Maintain documentation for life safety and electrical system testing Project & Vendor Coordination Coordinate electrical work for renovations, expansions, and capital projects Review electrical plans and specifications Manage contractors and ensure work meets facility standards Track project progress, budgets, and timelines Safety & Risk Management Enforce lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures Conduct safety meetings and risk assessments Ensure proper use of PPE and safe work practices Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions Other related duties as required.
