• State Hospital West (SHW) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Physical Plant Director to provide leadership and oversight of essential campus operations. This position provides facility oversight across all three facilities on the Nampa Campus, and plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, efficient, and compliant environment for patients, clients, youth, and staff. The Physical Plant Director provides leadership and direction for Facilities, Food Services, Maintenance, and Custodial operations, ensuring these essential services are reliable, responsive, and aligned with the operational needs of all three facilities. This position works closely with facility leadership and staff to address infrastructure and operational needs, coordinate resources, and ensure compliance with applicable safety, regulatory, and operational requirements. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Provide facility oversight and operational leadership across all three facilities on the Nampa Campus. Direct and oversee campus Facilities, Food Services, Maintenance, and Custodial operations. Provide leadership, supervision, and accountability to staff responsible for essential physical plant and support services. Coordinate daily operations and prioritize facility, infrastructure, maintenance, and service needs across the campus. Ensure facilities and support operations comply with applicable safety, regulatory, environmental, and accreditation requirements. Monitor the condition and functionality of buildings, equipment, grounds, and infrastructure and coordinate corrective action as needed. Coordinate facility projects, repairs, renovations, and other infrastructure needs with appropriate stakeholders. Manage resources, budgets, contracts, and expenditures associated with assigned operations. Collaborate with facility administrators and campus leadership to identify operational needs and develop effective solutions. Respond to emergencies, operational issues, and facility concerns to ensure continuity of essential services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. Considerable knowledge of energy conservation techniques, building codes and related regulations, environmental and infectious and hazardous materials considerations of a physical plant, preventive and predictive maintenance. Typically gained by two years of experience applying all the operational functions. Some knowledge of hazardous and infectious materials disposal, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, HVAC maintenance and operations, procedures and frequencies of custodial operations. Typically gained by one year of work experience. Experience managing physical plants and related operations of an institution or building complex, training employees in physical plant operations. Typically gained by two years of experience. Experience supervising staff. Typically gained by completion of two three credit or equivalent classes of upper division college-level coursework that included all the essential elements of management (Planning, Organizing, Leading, and Controlling); OR at least one year's experience in a job situation with responsibility for all the essential elements of management. Describe the courses you attended and what subject matter was covered. Experience scheduling and coordinating simultaneous remodel, maintenance, and construction projects, interpreting blueprints and building plans, estimating cost of materials and supplies for building construction and remodel projects, writing construction specifications and developing related plans. Typically gained by two years of work experience. Below is preferred experience. It is not required for the position but applicants with this experience may receive consideration over other applicants. Experience managing facility operations across multiple buildings, campuses, or facilities. Typically gained by two years of experience overseeing facility operations, infrastructure, or physical plant services across multiple locations or complex facilities. Experience supervising and managing diverse operational teams, such as maintenance, custodial, food services, facilities, or other support functions. Typically gained by two years of experience providing direct supervision, performance management, and operational direction to multiple teams or work units. Experience managing facility projects, maintenance programs, contracts, budgets, or capital improvement activities. Typically gained by two years of experience coordinating facility projects, developing or monitoring budgets, managing contracts, or overseeing maintenance and infrastructure improvements. Experience working in a regulated healthcare, residential, behavioral health, or other highly regulated environment. Typically gained by two years of experience ensuring facility operations comply with applicable safety, regulatory, accreditation, environmental, or industry standards.
