Job Title:
Forklift Driver Job Description This role involves safely operating forklifts and related material handling equipment to load and unload trailers, move materials throughout the warehouse, and support order fulfillment activities. You will pick and pack products, prepare work orders for shipment, and assemble containers according to provided instructions and measurements. The position requires regular lifting of 50+ pounds, the ability to follow detailed directions, and strong teamwork with a positive, reliable attitude. Responsibilities Safely operate sit-down, stand-up, reach truck, and other forklifts to load and unload trailers and move materials within the warehouse. Perform picking and packing of orders accurately using RF scanners and other warehouse tools. Prepare work orders and shipments, ensuring containers and materials are correctly labeled and ready for dispatch. Follow written and verbal instructions to properly assemble and disassemble containers and related components. Use basic math skills and a tape measure to take accurate measurements for assembly and construction tasks. Handle materials, including palletizing, pallet jack operation, and general material handling duties. Use hand tools such as drills, hammers, and screwdrivers to complete assembly and construction-related work. Support shipping and receiving activities, including checking, staging, and organizing incoming and outgoing materials. Work collaboratively as part of a team of approximately five people to assemble each container efficiently and safely. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with warehouse safety practices. Demonstrate consistent attendance and punctuality in accordance with contract expectations. Adhere to all workplace policies, safety guidelines, and operational procedures while on site. Essential Skills Proven ability to operate forklifts, including sit-down, stand-up, and reach trucks, in a warehouse environment. Experience with order picking and packing using RF scanners and standard warehouse processes. Ability to lift 50 pounds continuously throughout the shift. Mechanical aptitude with the ability to assemble and disassemble components as part of container construction. Basic math skills and the ability to accurately read and use a tape measure. Competence in using hand tools such as drills, hammers, and screwdrivers for assembly work. Experience in shipping and receiving and general material handling. Ability to operate pallet jacks and perform palletizing tasks safely. Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work effectively in a small assembly team. Positive, cooperative attitude and the ability to follow directions and instructions reliably. Consistent, dependable attendance and adherence to schedule requirements. Willingness and ability to wear steel-toed boots as part of required safety attire. Additional Skills & Qualifications Assembly or construction experience in a warehouse or industrial setting. Experience working in large warehouse environments with high-volume orders. Comfort working in varying temperature conditions, including cold winters and hot summers. Attention to detail when measuring, assembling, and preparing orders for shipment. Strong communication skills to coordinate tasks within a team-based environment. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a large warehouse facility where containers are assembled and staged both inside and around the building. You will typically work on first shift, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The warehouse can be cold in the winter and hot in the summer, so comfort with varying temperatures is important. Work is performed in small teams of about five people, using forklifts, pallet jacks, RF scanners, and common hand tools such as drills, hammers, and screwdrivers. Safety is a priority, and steel-toed boots are required as part of the dress code. The environment is fast-paced and production-focused, with a strong emphasis on consistent attendance and adherence to established safety and operational procedures. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of West Valley City, UT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $19.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
