Job Description

Position Reports to : Yard Manager Position is Full-Time, Year-Round 5:00 am to 4:30 pm (days) 40+ hours per week, overtime required Responsibilities
  • Continual keen awareness of surroundings in a fast-paced environment to prevent any potential accidents with other equipment, vehicles or pedestrians.
  • Provide excellent service to trucking customers and ensuring prompt service to get them on their way. Scheduling and tracking for residue loads - excellent organizational skill and people skills.
  • Coordinate and accurately document loads for billing purposes. Clear and accurate paperwork
  • Safely and efficiently move load trucks and direct drivers where to safely strap or cover their loads.
  • Help ensure that truckers are using the required Personal Protective Equipment while outside their trucks.
  • Complete daily Inspection Sheet of equipment, prior to operation. Report any equipment issues.
  • Continual preventative maintenance of loader to ensure proper operation and its safety.
  • Observe and follow all safety protocols 100% of the time. Assist as part of a team to keep the mill yard a safe and clean environment at all times. Equipment and Machinery
  • Loaders/Forklifts; all safety guarding associated with equipment
  • Cell phone Requirements
  • Serious approach to personal safety and safety of others; situational awareness.
  • Understanding of Logistics and Attention to Detail
  • Commitment to customer relations and representing Stratton Lumber in a positive and professional manner.
  • Excellent Communication Skills (customers, mill managers, truckers, fellow employees)
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to adapt and plan ahead; flexibility
  • Organizational skills and accurate record-keeping.
  • Safety awareness for self, others and proper loader care.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in safe Forklift/Loader Operation
  • Ability to follow established procedures and practices
  • A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, twist, reach, climb and bend.
  • Satisfactory pre-employment physical exam and drug screening.
