2nd Shift Forklift Operator
JOB SUMMARY
The Shipping & Receiving Material Handler is responsible for a variety of tasks which include the safe and efficient operation of forklifts and other material handling devices, ensuring that finished goods are properly stored in the warehouse and that finished goods are set-up and loaded on the correct freight carrier and, all incoming material is correctly received and checked. The following items are a list of the basic steps, but not a complete list of everyday job duties for which the warehouse material handler will be responsible for within this job class. Required Set-up Do daily inspection of lift truck, utilizing inspection checklist. Walk through warehouse to determine where finished goods may be stored. Communicate with production foreman concerning any items that need to run for orders leaving this shipping day. Responsibilities Forklift Operations Security, Precautions, & Alertness (SPA) should be the main objective. Driving with two or more pallets on top of one another that exceeds the allowable limit is prohibited. Stopping at all intersections before you continue to drive. The forks should be down completely while driving. No one should be permitted to travel on the forks of the forklift, nor travel next to the driver. Use the emergency brake whenever the forklift is not in use. Off Loading Transfer Track Retrieve and transport skids from production. Place finish production in correct warehouse aisle Set-up shipping orders Read packing list (order) Retrieve correct items from warehouse Wrap and write customer name on pallets Stamp and place labels to copies and skids After order is set-up, finish packing list and bill of lading Set-up order in staging area Loading Carrier Ensure wheels are chocked Condition of the trailer (report any damage) Retrieve and review packing list (order) Determine sequence of loading carrier, what items go first and last, and items get cancelled or back ordered Load the carrier (determine if a floor load, pallet load, etc.) Drivers must sign for pieces counted Inform driver that carrier loading is complete and return the corresponding copies to the drive Hours for 2nd shift at 2:45pm-10:45pm rate is $18.50. #
