MY SISTER'S PLACE DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR JOB DESCRIPTION ABOUT US
My Sister's Place (MSP) is a non-profit Christian organization that opens its doors with God's love to provide safe shelter, nourishing food, a nurturing environment and resources for women and their children who are experiencing homelessness. MSP. THE JOB
Reporting to the Development Manager, the Development Coordinator is a full-time non-exempt position that supports MSP's fundraising efforts by assisting with donor relations, event planning, and database management. The position is responsible for implementing strategies to raise financial support for both operations and capital projects through campaigns, special events, and appeals to individuals, foundations, corporations, churches, government sources and civic groups.
Specific Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for coordinating capital campaign activities and executing development strategies. These efforts include administrative functions; researching and identifying prospective donors; cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors; special event planning and implementation; communications and public relations; and gift reporting and acknowledgement among other related fundraising and programmatic needs.
Essential Functions:
  • Coordinate capital campaign activities such as scheduling appointments, completing data entry, tracking and reporting progress of solicitations, maintaining timely and professional communication with stakeholders, planning special gatherings, and sending gift acknowledgements made directly to MSP
  • Execute development strategies such as annual fundraising programs, appeals, special events, and social media campaigns
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with existing and perspective donors
  • Solicit opportunities for and deliver presentations to potential and existing funders to include businesses, churches, and community civic groups to share information about the MSP ministry
  • Maintain the donor database to record and track gifts, recognize donors, and document interactions with donors; ensuring accurate records and preparing reports
  • Participate in networking and fundraising events as needed to bring about greater awareness to the MSP ministry
  • Assist the Development Manager with marketing and public relations efforts including creating and producing an annual report, periodic newsletters, press releases, articles, and social media posts to support the program and fundraising activities
  • Attend board committee meetings as needed to support the planning and implementation of fundraising and/or marketing activities
  • Perform other related duties as requested to ensure program success.
QUALIFICATIONS
These are minimal qualifications which may be interchanged for other, stronger experience and training.
  • A healthy, growing relationship with Jesus
  • Three years of fundraising experience with a nonprofit organization with demonstrated understanding of fundraising principles, donor cultivation, and event planning
  • Demonstrated analytical and fundraising skills with the ability to recognize opportunities, identify critical, high pay-off activities and prioritize them to attain goals
  • A four-year college degree, preferably in a communications related field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated engagement in community or volunteer work
  • Highly organized approach to work with strong self-directed and timely follow-through on multiple tasks and goals
  • Demonstration of a positive attitude, showing concern for people and community and conveying presence, self-confidence, common sense, and good listening ability
  • Donor-centered approach with commitment to excellent customer service
  • Strong computer skills, in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; experience with donor databases and fundraising software is preferred
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms and how they are best used for donor engagement.
  • A self-starter- able to work both independently and as a team
  • Strong collaborative skills and team spirit to achieve common goals
  • Openness to new ideas and their implementation. Ability to react and adapt to changing situations appropriately
  • Strong relational skills, able to create and sustain beneficial relationships internally and externally
  • Experience in homeless advocacy, women's ministry, etc., is a plus
  • Experience with Bloomerang or other CRM is preferred
