Job Summary Our Client is seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Development to lead their fundraising and donor engagement initiatives. Responsibilities Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies aligned with organizational goals, including annual campaigns, major gift programs, and planned giving initiatives. Manage and grow relationships with donors, alumni, volunteers, and community partners through personalized engagement and stewardship activities. Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising events that enhance visibility and donor participation while ensuring logistical excellence. Oversee the management of donor databases such as Raiser's Edge, Salesforce, Mailchimp, Constant Contact, and WordPress to ensure accurate data collection, segmentation, and reporting. Write compelling grant proposals and reports to secure funding from government agencies, foundations, and corporate sponsors. Lead digital marketing efforts including email marketing campaigns using platforms like Mailchimp and digital outreach strategies to expand organizational reach. Collaborate with internal teams to develop marketing materials that highlight organizational achievements and fundraising priorities. Conduct research on potential funding sources and donor prospects to inform strategic planning efforts. Negotiate sponsorships, partnerships, and donation agreements to maximize revenue streams. Manage budgets for development activities ensuring cost-effective execution of programs. Utilize CRM software for donor relations management and volunteer coordination to enhance engagement efforts. Supervise volunteer management programs supporting event execution and community outreach initiatives.

REQUIRED

Bachelor's degree in related field; or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training that would provide the level of knowledge and ability necessary to be successful in this position. At least 5 years of development experience, major gifts fundraising strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience in cultivating and securing prospects capable of five and six-figure gifts. At least 3 years of management experience required, 5 preferred. Excellent writing skills. Highly self-motivated, able to work independently. Highly organized, detail-oriented, excellent communication skills. Strong computer skills including comfort with navigating various programs, such as donor databases. Desire for professional growth and enthusiasm for the organization's mission and values. Experience Minimum of five years of progressive experience in nonprofit development or fundraising leadership roles. Demonstrated success in securing major gifts, grants (including nonprofit industry grant writing), and planned giving commitments. Extensive experience with database management systems such as Raiser's Edge or Salesforce; proficiency in WordPress is preferred. Proven ability in proposal writing for grants and major donors with excellent writing skills. Strong background in event planning, digital marketing (including email marketing), public relations, and marketing strategies tailored for nonprofit organizations. Experience managing budgets for development programs alongside strategic planning capabilities. Knowledge of nonprofit industry standards for donor relations, research methodologies for prospect identification, and volunteer management practices. Familiarity with university or educational institution environments is advantageous but not required.
