Job Description

Development Manager South Orange County, CA | Full-Time | Primarily Onsite $100,000 to $120,000 (DOE) + Benefits A growing group of mission-driven nonprofit organizations is seeking a hands-on Development Manager to support fundraising, donor engagement, grants, sponsorships, and development operations across multiple organizations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a collaborative, entrepreneurial nonprofit environment and can balance relationship-building with day-to-day fundraising execution. The right candidate is organized, proactive, adaptable, and comfortable managing multiple priorities across lean, growing organizations. We are specifically seeking candidates with direct, internal nonprofit fundraising and donor development experience. Candidates whose backgrounds are primarily focused in consulting, marketing, communications, branding, or public relations without direct in-house fundraising ownership within a nonprofit organization are not the right fit for this role. Key Responsibilities Build and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners Support donor cultivation, stewardship, and fundraising outreach activities Assist with identifying and managing grant opportunities, reporting, and submissions Coordinate fundraising events, donor experiences, sponsorships, and community engagement activities Maintain donor records, fundraising pipelines, and reporting within CRM systems Support corporate partnerships and in-kind sponsorship efforts Assist leadership with fundraising strategy execution and development initiatives Track fundraising performance, donor activity, and campaign progress Collaborate across teams to support fundraising goals and organizational growth Qualifications 3-5+ years of direct, in-house nonprofit fundraising or development experience required Experience working internally within a nonprofit organization in a development, philanthropy, or fundraising capacity Proven experience managing donor relationships, fundraising campaigns, sponsorships, grants, or stewardship initiatives Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines Experience using CRM systems such as Salesforce, Raiser's Edge, Bloomerang, or similar Excellent communication and relationship-building skills Comfortable working in a lean, hands-on nonprofit environment Bachelor's degree preferred Ideal Backgrounds Candidates may come from backgrounds such as: Development Manager Donor Relations Manager Fundraising Manager Philanthropy Coordinator Grants & Development Specialist Corporate Partnerships Manager Additional Information This is a primarily onsite role based in South Orange County Candidates should be located within a reasonable commuting distance This role supports multiple small nonprofit organizations, so flexibility, organization, and adaptability are important This role is not fully remote Why Join?
