//www.freedomscholarslc.org/ Job Summary Freedom Scholars Learning Center is seeking a part-time, seasonal Grant Writer to support fundraising, grant applications, reporting, and development efforts. The Grant Writer will help identify funding opportunities, prepare grant proposals, gather required documents, support reporting requirements, and communicate FSLC's mission, programs, impact, and funding needs clearly and effectively. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, mission-driven, and comfortable writing for nonprofit, education, youth development, literacy, and community-based funding opportunities. The ideal candidate has strong writing and research skills, can manage deadlines, and is able to work collaboratively with program leadership to gather information and turn it into clear, compelling grant materials. Responsibilities Research grant opportunities that align with FSLC's mission, programs, and funding needs. Draft, edit, and prepare grant proposals, letters of inquiry, narratives, reports, and supporting documents. Work with program leadership to gather program descriptions, outcomes, budgets, timelines, and organizational information. Help maintain organized records of grant deadlines, submissions, reporting dates, funder requirements, and award information. Support the preparation of grant reports, impact summaries, and other funder communications. Ensure grant materials are accurate, complete, clear, and submitted on time. Adapt existing program language for different funder applications and proposal formats. Assist with collecting data, stories, and program updates that help demonstrate FSLC's impact. Communicate clearly with staff regarding upcoming deadlines, missing information, and proposal needs. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling organizational, financial, family, scholar, or donor-related information. Qualifications Strong writing, editing, research, and organizational skills. Experience with grant writing, nonprofit writing, fundraising, development, education, youth programming, or community-based work is preferred. Ability to write clearly and persuasively for different audiences. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently. Strong attention to detail. Ability to gather information from staff and turn it into clear written materials. Familiarity with nonprofit programs, literacy, youth development, education, social justice, or community engagement is helpful. Comfortable using Google Drive, Google Docs, email, spreadsheets, and online grant portals. Demonstrated commitment to children, families, literacy, cultural affirmation, and community-rooted work. Ability to receive feedback and revise written materials as needed. Professional communication skills. Submission of a current résumé and writing sample may be requested.
