Job Description
Position Summary The Grant Writer is responsible for identifying, researching, writing, submitting, and managing grant proposals that generate sustainable funding for the organization. This position is highly results-oriented and is expected to secure grant revenue equal to a minimum of three (3) times the employee's annual salary through foundation, corporate, government, and community grant opportunities. Working closely with the Director of Development, the Grant Writer will develop compelling proposals, maintain a grant calendar, ensure timely reporting, and cultivate relationships with grant funders. Essential Responsibilities Grant Research & Strategy Research and identify new grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, government agencies, and community organizations. Evaluate funding opportunities for strategic fit and likelihood of success. Develop an annual grant strategy that supports organizational priorities. Maintain a pipeline of prospective grant opportunities. Grant Management Maintain a comprehensive grant calendar with application deadlines, reporting requirements, and renewal dates. Ensure all grants are submitted accurately and on time. Monitor grant awards and reporting obligations. Prepare interim and final grant reports demonstrating measurable outcomes. Relationship Management Build and maintain positive relationships with foundation and corporate program officers. Coordinate site visits and meetings with funders when appropriate. Work collaboratively with program managers to collect impact stories and evaluation data. Data & Compliance Maintain accurate grant records within the donor database. Track proposal activity, funding outcomes, and grant revenue. Ensure compliance with all grant requirements and reporting standards. Performance Expectations Success in this position will be measured by: Securing grant revenue equal to at least three (3) times annual salary Meeting 100% grant submission deadlines Maintaining a rolling pipeline of qualified funding opportunities Achieving a competitive grant success rate Completing all required grant reports on time Increasing the number of new grant funders annually
