Executive Director Feed Iowa First | Cedar Rapids, IA Feed Iowa First is actively seeking a passionate and strategic Executive Director to lead its organization into its next chapter of growth and community impact. About Feed Iowa First Founded in 2011, Feed Iowa First is a nonprofit organization committed to strengthening communities through sustainable farming, equitable land access, farmer incubation programs, and food security initiatives. Operating from a Cedar Rapids office and shop as well as a farm in Marion, the organization fosters a collaborative, hands-on culture where employees, volunteers, and community partners work together to create lasting impact. Feed Iowa First believes that health equity begins with reliable access to nutritious, culturally appropriate food and is committed to building a more sustainable and equitable food system for all. The Position The Executive Director serves as the senior leader responsible for advancing the organization's mission, strategic vision, and long-term stability. This role provides overall leadership and oversight of the nonprofit's operations, programs, finances, and community partnerships while ensuring the organization continues to make a meaningful impact on food access, sustainable agriculture, and health equity across Eastern Iowa. The ideal candidate is a relationship-driven leader who can balance big-picture strategy with hands-on involvement, collaborating across both office and farm locations to support mission delivery and organizational success. Key Responsibilities Lead the organization's strategic direction, ensuring alignment with the mission, values, and long-term sustainability goals Provide overall leadership and oversight of nonprofit operations, programs, staff, and community initiatives across both office and farm locations Oversee organizational finances, including budgeting, financial planning, resource stewardship, and operational sustainability Build and strengthen relationships with the Board of Directors, donors, grant partners, volunteers, and community stakeholders to expand impact and support Serve as the public face of Feed Iowa First, advocating for food access, sustainable agriculture, and equitable community development throughout Eastern Iowa Requirements Bachelor's degree in business, agriculture, or a related management discipline Minimum of 3-5 years of nonprofit leadership experience or equivalent combination of education and experience Demonstrated financial acumen with experience in budget management and organizational oversight Demonstrated strategic planning, organizational leadership and relationship-building capabilities Valid driver's license for local travel between office and farm locations Agriculture or farming background preferred but not required This is an opportunity to lead a respected nonprofit organization that is making a direct and measurable impact.
