Job Description
Assistant General Manager Holiday Inn Express & Suites Position Overview We are seeking a motivated, dependable, and guest-focused Assistant General Manager (AGM) to join our team at Holiday Inn Express & Suites. The Assistant General Manager will work closely with the General Manager to oversee daily hotel operations, lead and support team members, maintain high guest-service standards, and help drive overall hotel performance. Room for growth into General Manager position. The ideal candidate is an experienced hospitality professional who leads by example, has strong communication and organizational skills, and is comfortable balancing guest service, employee leadership, and operational responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Assist the General Manager with the overall day-to-day operation of the hotel. Provide leadership, direction, and support to front desk and housekeeping teams. Deliver exceptional guest service and resolve guest concerns professionally and promptly. Monitor hotel cleanliness, appearance, maintenance, and brand standards. Assist with scheduling, staffing, training, onboarding, and employee development. Support front-office operations, including reservations, check-ins, check-outs, cash handling, and daily reports. Monitor occupancy, room availability, guest satisfaction, and operational performance. Assist with meeting hotel goals for revenue, guest satisfaction, quality assurance, and profitability. Conduct property inspections and ensure deficiencies are addressed in a timely manner. Work with housekeeping and maintenance teams to ensure rooms and public areas meet company and brand standards. Assist with inventory management and ordering of operational supplies. Support compliance with company policies, safety procedures, and applicable regulations. Handle manager-on-duty responsibilities and make sound decisions in the General Manager's absence. Participate in staff meetings and communicate company expectations and operational updates. Build positive relationships with guests, employees, vendors, and the local community. Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager. Qualifications Previous hotel or hospitality management experience preferred. Supervisory or leadership experience required. Strong customer-service and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to lead, motivate, and hold team members accountable. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with computers and common hotel management systems preferred. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, as needed. High school diploma or equivalent required; hospitality or business education is a plus.
