An Assistant General Manager manages all aspects of a business. May be responsible for managing a small business, or managing one division or department of a larger business. Oversees administration, finance, communication and marketing as well as operations for a company. Reports to business owners, executive management or a board of directors.
The Assistant Manager helps the District Manager to oversee the operation, performance, and profitability of the Oklahoma (OK) Station convenience store. As a leader within a tribally owned enterprise, the Assistant Manager ensures that operations align with the cultural values, economic goals, and community priorities of the Tribe. This role requires strategic management, staff development, operational oversight, and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
Job Duties:
Operational Leadership:
Assist with the daily operations of the OK Station, ensuring established performance and profitability benchmarks are met. Ensure a smooth workflow is maintained to drive sales, reduce costs, and enhance efficiency. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and tribal regulations, including health, safety, and environmental standards. Monitor inventory levels, pricing strategies, and vendor relations to optimize store profitability.
Team Management:
Supervise, train, mentor, and occasionally assist with hiring Customer Service Representatives, Lead Customer Service Representatives, and other staff as needed. Provide ongoing support, performance evaluations, and professional development opportunities for team members. Resolve workplace issues, concerns, or conflicts as they arise. Promote a positive, inclusive, and respectful workplace culture reflective of tribal values. Follow and enforce store policy and procedures.
Customer Service Excellence:
Ensure that staff are trained to deliver consistent, high-quality customer experiences. Address customer concerns, inquiries, or complaints in a timely and professional manner. Lead initiatives to improve community engagement and loyalty to Oklahoma Station.
Financial Accountability:
Assist the District Manager with developing budgets and financial forecasts. Review and analyze sales reports, operating expenses, and other financial data to ensure targets are met. Identify opportunities for revenue growth and cost savings while maintaining quality standards.
Cultural Alignment:
Integrate tribal values, history, and cultural priorities into business operations and community engagement. Serve as a liaison between Oklahoma Station operations and tribal members, fostering transparency and accountability.
Qualifications:
5 years of experience with retail or convenience stores. Experience leading or mentoring staff. Effective problem solving and de-escalation skills. Must be able to acquire and maintain ABLE, ServSafe, and OCC Operator certificates. Must be able to work nights and/or weekends as needed. Effective communication both verbal and written High School diploma minimum. Bachelors in business management preferred.
