We're looking for an experienced, hands-on Assistant Store Manager to help run the daily operations of our consignment furniture store. This is a fast-paced, detail-oriented role that blends customer service, pricing and inventory judgment, staff leadership, and day-to-day business operations. Your primary day to day responsibilities will be as a consignment manager, pricing furniture and accessories at a realistic resale price, fair to the consignor and the customer. You will learn and benefit from our 27+ years in the consignment furniture industry while viewing wonderful items from some of the area's finest homes. You will also be key to supporting staff by communicating expectations, holding accountability levels and assisting in developing their skills to drive overall team success. You'll work closely with the Owner and Store Manager to keep the store running smoothly and clients well taken care of. Responsibilities
  • Monitor and triage email
  • Answer phones
  • Be available throughout the day for client drop-offs, samplers, and questions
  • Tag and price items
  • Process consignment paperwork at each stage
  • Evaluate condition and research pricing on incoming furniture
  • Support opening and closing procedures
  • Monitor weekly pickup/delivery volume against targets, adjusting for inventory levels and staffing
  • Conduct staff check-ins and observe performance and conduct
  • Document and address employee issues directly; escalate as needed
  • Help prepare employee reviews (annual and 90-day)
  • Support on-boarding of new hires Qualifications
  • Prior retail or store management experience
  • Strong communication and client-service skills
  • Comfortable making pricing and inventory judgment calls
  • Sound judgment and good decision-making, especially when a situation doesn't have a clear playbook
  • Able to work well in ambiguous or fast-changing environments, and to prioritize on the fly
  • High accountability — follows through on commitments and owns outcomes, including mistakes
  • Strong integrity, especially when handling cash, client property, and sensitive information
  • Comfortable having direct conversations with staff or clients
  • Detail-oriented, with the discipline to keep paperwork and on track
  • Calm under pressure, especially during busy periods or unexpected issues
  • Team-oriented, with the ability to both take direction and step up to lead
  • Reliable and punctual, with the flexibility to adapt to a physically active, on-your-feet role
  • Basic computer skills (email, point-of-sale systems)
  • Coordinates with manager to address maintenance and facility needs.
  • The ability to lift 35 lbs, get up and down from seated to standing position frequently, and walk our large 17,000 sq. ft. showroom frequently throughout each day
  • Appreciation for furniture and decor
Note:
Compensation is a combination of base salary and incentive calculated on store sales. To be discussed in detail upon job offer. Compensation increase upon successful completion of benchmarks (after initial training 9-12 months)
