Dogtopia of McKinney is looking for an energetic, organized, and results-driven General Manager to lead our team and take ownership of the day-to-day performance of our location. Dogtopia is an industry leader in dog daycare, boarding, spa, and grooming services. But this position is about much more than dogs. We are looking for a business leader who can build a strong team, deliver an exceptional customer experience, drive revenue growth, manage financial performance, and maintain the industry's highest standards for safety and care. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys being accountable for results, developing people, solving problems, and improving a business. You will lead the team, manage the operation, drive sales and customer retention, control expenses, and ensure that every dog and pet parent receives an exceptional experience. Leadership & Team Development Lead by example and build a positive, accountable, team-oriented culture. Recruit, hire, onboard, train, coach, and develop a team of approximately 15-20 employees . Establish clear performance expectations and hold team members accountable. Manage employee scheduling and maintain appropriate staffing levels. Develop team members for greater responsibility and future advancement. Ensure completion of required Dogtopia training and certification programs. Business Performance & Growth Take ownership of location sales, profitability, labor, and controllable expenses. Identify opportunities to increase revenue, improve productivity, and operate more efficiently. Use key performance indicators and business data to identify opportunities and take action. Drive new customer acquisition through local marketing, community outreach, and lead management. Ensure leads are contacted quickly and effectively by the front desk team. Improve conversion of inquiries and Meet & Greets into active customers. Coach the team to identify appropriate opportunities for additional daycare, boarding, spa, grooming, and other services. Participate in community events and develop relationships with local veterinarians, shelters, businesses, and community organizations. Customer Experience Create an environment where outstanding customer service is the standard. Build relationships with pet parents and resolve customer concerns professionally. Ensure the front desk team communicates confidently and proactively with customers. Identify opportunities to improve customer retention and overall satisfaction. Strive to deliver an exceptional experience for every dog, every pet parent, and every team member. Safety & Operations Safety is our highest priority. The General Manager must understand what is happening throughout the facility and ensure that Dogtopia's safety and operating standards are consistently followed.
Responsibilities include:
Regularly monitor playrooms and understand the dogs currently attending the facility. Ensure appropriate playroom assignments and staffing. Maintain Dogtopia safety, cleaning, and sanitation standards. Maintain and manage facility cleaning schedules. Hold the team accountable for maintaining an exceptionally clean and safe environment. Monitor dogs with behavioral concerns and ensure appropriate action plans are followed. Proactively address dogs that are no longer appropriate for open-play daycare. Oversee spa and grooming operations, including quality, safety, scheduling, and customer records. Financial & Administrative Management Manage labor and other controllable expenses within established targets. Forecast staffing and operational needs. Monitor payroll and productivity. Manage inventory and supply ordering. Identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary expenses without compromising safety or customer experience. Communicate business concerns, opportunities, and proposed solutions proactively with ownership. Use Microsoft Office, POS systems, scheduling systems, and other business technology effectively. What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who combines leadership ability, business judgment, customer-service instincts, and operational discipline . Preferred Experience 2-3+ years managing a customer-facing, service-oriented business. 2-3+ years leading a team of approximately 10 or more full- and part-time employees. Experience with employee scheduling, coaching, performance management, and accountability. Experience managing labor costs, budgets, expenses, or other financial performance metrics. 2-4+ years of management experience in dog daycare and boarding or a comparable animal-care environment is strongly preferred. Successful Candidates Typically Are Strong communicators who can lead different personalities effectively. Organized and comfortable managing multiple priorities at the same time. Comfortable making decisions and being accountable for results. Analytical enough to understand KPIs, labor, revenue, and business performance. Natural coaches who enjoy developing employees. Customer-focused and capable of resolving difficult situations professionally. Proactive problem solvers who bring solutions rather than simply identifying problems. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly. Detail-oriented without losing sight of the bigger business picture. Team-oriented leaders who measure success by the performance of the entire location. Comfortable with Microsoft Office, POS systems, scheduling software, and other business technology.
