Job Description Orlando Health Foundation is seeking a Senior Grant Manager to lead the development of a comprehensive grant program supporting Baptist Health and the communities it serves across Alabama. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced grants professional to build a regional grant program from the ground up. The Senior Grant Manager will work directly with hospital executives, finance leaders, physicians, operational teams, community organizations, nonprofit partners, and funding sources to identify needs and develop sustainable funding solutions. The role will oversee the full grant lifecycle. This includes assessing hospital and community needs, researching funding opportunities, developing partnerships, creating grant strategies, writing and submitting proposals, building budgets, and managing awards through implementation, reporting, compliance, and closeout. The ideal candidate brings a combination of grant expertise, program-development experience, executive presence, and established relationships within the Alabama nonprofit and philanthropic community. This individual should understand how to connect local needs with available funding and bring the right hospital, community, and funding partners together to create meaningful programs. What You Will Do Build and establish the Alabama grant program, including its funding strategy, processes, partnerships, tracking systems, and opportunity pipeline Meet with hospital CEOs, CFOs, physicians, department leaders, and community partners to understand operational and community needs Research healthcare initiatives and funding opportunities at the local, state, and national levels Identify corporate, private foundation, philanthropic, and government grant opportunities Evaluate grant opportunities for strategic alignment, eligibility, feasibility, and potential impact Develop program concepts in partnership with hospital and community stakeholders Write and submit letters of intent, proposals, applications, progress reports, and final reports Develop grant budgets with finance and operational leaders, including appropriate overhead and indirect costs Manage proposal timelines, approvals, signatures, supporting documentation, and submission deadlines Establish and maintain relationships with foundations, corporations, grant-making organizations, nonprofits, and community leaders Serve as a consultant to hospital departments seeking grant funding Help internal teams organize their ideas, define measurable objectives, create realistic program plans, and comply with funder guidelines Partner with grant financial leadership to monitor awarded funds and ensure compliance with grant terms and conditions Manage post-award requirements, including reporting, documentation, deliverables, and communication with funding sources Analyze the effectiveness of grant-development activities and adjust funding strategies when needed Communicate grant opportunities to hospital and foundation teams Represent Orlando Health Foundation and Baptist Health in meetings with funders and community organizations Lead grant-related special projects and coordinate the stakeholders and resources needed to achieve program objectives Provide training and guidance to internal teams on grant development, readiness, compliance, and reporting Support and mentor team members involved in grant-development activities Day-to-Day Responsibilities The Senior Grant Manager's daily responsibilities will vary because this person will be establishing a new regional grant function. A typical week may include the following activities. Hospital and Community Discovery Meeting with hospital CEOs, CFOs, physicians, service-line leaders, and department managers Learning about gaps in care, operational priorities, community health concerns, and programs that need funding Meeting with nonprofits and community organizations to understand what services already exist locally Identifying where Baptist Health can collaborate with existing organizations rather than duplicate services Validating whether a proposed program addresses a documented and supportable community need Funding Research and Strategy Researching local, regional, state, and national funding opportunities Reviewing the priorities, eligibility requirements, deadlines, and giving history of potential funders Monitoring trends in healthcare philanthropy, corporate giving, and government funding Developing a pipeline of current and future grant opportunities Matching hospital and community needs with the most appropriate funding sources Determining which opportunities should be pursued and which do not align with the organization's strategy or readiness Relationship Development Developing relationships with private foundations, corporate giving teams, government entities, and philanthropic leaders Maintaining active connections with Alabama nonprofits and community-based organizations Meeting with potential funders to discuss Baptist Health's needs and community impact Participating in local coalitions, nonprofit discussions, and community-development activities Bringing hospital leaders, community partners, and funders together around shared priorities Grant Development and Submission Facilitating planning sessions with internal and external partners Turning community or hospital needs into clear program concepts Defining the target population, program approach, desired outcomes, implementation plan, and measures of success Writing letters of intent and full grant proposals Developing budgets with finance and operational leaders Collecting supporting documents, signatures, data, and organizational information Reviewing proposals for accuracy, consistency, compliance, and completeness Managing deadlines and ensuring submissions are completed on time Post-Award Management Communicating grant requirements to the teams responsible for implementing funded programs Tracking award amounts, timelines, spending restrictions, deliverables, and reporting deadlines Coordinating with finance to monitor the use of grant funds Ensuring funded programs remain aligned with the proposal and funder's intent Preparing and submitting progress and final reports Maintaining documentation for compliance and audit readiness Communicating with funders about program progress, required changes, or reporting needs Supporting grant renewals and continued funding strategies Program-Building and Internal Operations Creating standardized grant-development processes and templates Establishing a grant calendar and opportunity-tracking system Developing work plans for research, proposal development, submission, award management, and reporting Creating communication processes to routinely share opportunities with hospital departments Educating internal stakeholders on what makes a program grant-ready Tracking proposal results and evaluating the effectiveness of the regional grant strategy Adjusting outreach and funding strategies based on results and evolving community needs
