JOB SUMMARY
Job Summary:
The Manufacturing, Production & Automation Specialist (Manager) is responsible for overseeing the administration, coordination, instruction, and marketing of the Industry 4.0 Lab at St. Petersburg College Midtown Campus. This role includes managing grant funding, supporting curriculum development, facilitating industry partnerships, and promoting advanced manufacturing, automation, and digital transformation technologies. The specialist ensures that students, faculty, and industry partners have access to cutting-edge resources, hands-on learning, and workforce development initiatives.
Grant Management & Compliance:
Oversee and manage grant-funded programs supporting Industry 4.0 initiatives. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations for grant funding. Track grant expenditures, prepare reports, and submit required documentation. Collaborate with stakeholders to secure additional funding and sponsorship opportunities.
Lab Coordination & Operations:
Maintain and oversee the daily operations of the Industry 4.0 Lab, ensuring all equipment is functional and up to date. Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for lab usage, safety, and equipment maintenance. Work with IT and engineering faculty to integrate smart manufacturing, automation, and IoT technologies. Support faculty, students, and industry partners in utilizing lab resources for research, training, and project development.
Instruction & Workforce Training:
Assist in the development and delivery of curriculum related to Industry 4.0, automation, robotics, digital manufacturing, and smart systems. Provide hands-on instruction, workshops, and professional development for students, faculty, and industry partners. Collaborate with faculty to integrate lab activities into academic programs and workforce training initiatives. Stay current on emerging technologies and industry trends to enhance course content and instructional methods
Marketing & Outreach:
Develop marketing strategies to promote the Industry 4.0 Lab to students, faculty, industry partners, and the broader community. Create promotional materials, including brochures, social media content, and video demonstrations of lab capabilities. Organize open houses, demonstration events, and community engagement activities. Work with institutional marketing and public relations teams to highlight student success stories and industry collaborations.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience:
Required:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
Preferred:
Experience in higher education, workforce development, or industry training programs. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in advanced manufacturing, automation, smart systems, or a related field. Knowledge of Industry 4.0 technologies, including IoT, AI, robotics, digital twins, and smart manufacturing.
Technical & Professional Skills:
Experience with PLC programming, robotics, CAD/CAM, additive manufacturing, and automation systems. Familiarity with grants management, compliance reporting, and workforce development funding. Strong project management and organizational skills. Proficiency in using learning management systems (LMS), simulation software, and smart factory tools.
Soft Skills:
Strong communication and relationship-building skills with students, faculty, and industry partners. Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively. Passion for education, workforce development, and technology-driven learning.

TYPE OF WORK
Work performed is primarily: Sedentary work : Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. WORK ENVIRONMENT
May be required to work hours other than the regular schedule including nights and weekends. Work is performed in a dynamic environment that requires sensitivity to change and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities, and needs. This role requires time in both classroom and lab settings, with occasional travel for industry engagement.
