Grant Manager

Job Description

The purpose of this class within the organization is to manage and coordinate the City's specialized grant activities. The Grants Manager will work cooperatively with City departments to identify and secure grants for specific projects, facilitate sub-recipient funding activities, and coordinate internal and external grant communications for the development and implementation of City goals, objectives, and priorities.
Essential Functions:
Must be able to communicate with others in spoken and written English to ensure the safe and efficient operations of the business. Manages and coordinates the City's specialized grant activities and strategic funding programs, working in cooperation with various City departments, community partners, and funders. Serve as liaison and provide other support, as needed, to the Community Investment Trust. Perform grant research by identifying, cultivating, and soliciting grant opportunities. Coordinate with City departments and community partners in promoting the collective impact of strategic grant applications. Write and submit competitive grant proposals in collaboration with City departments and offices, and others as available time and resources permit. Institute a process of program planning by completing an analysis of the nature and extent of the departments' identified needs and reasons for those needs. Independently work with various entities to coordinate and compile statistical data required for grant proposal program narratives. Monitor grant-funded projects and their budgets to ensure compliance with grant financial specifications and award amounts and submit sub-grant adjustments as needed to ensure grant funding is used as efficiently and effectively as possible. Work with City finance staff to track expenditures, develop financial reports, and monitor funding disbursements. Collect and analyze project data, working with the affected department as needed, in order to gauge effectiveness of grant. Maintain a current knowledge of laws, regulations, and other developments in grant management.

Performs other work as assigned.
Physical Demands:
Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Communications, English, Journalism, or any other strong writing-intensive field preferred. Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent. Three (3) years of experience writing and administering grants required, preferably for a local governmental entity.
Special Certifications and Licenses:
Must have a valid driver's license. The City of Murfreesboro is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
