The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of the organization and provides support for
the nonprofit's mission to improve mental health and well-being in the community. The Executive
Director works collaboratively with the Board of Trustees, agency staff, partners, and funders to ensure
program excellence and long-term financial sustainability.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
- Manage and retain Family Counseling Service's staff and mental health professionals.
- Identify emerging community needs and opportunities for organizational growth. Fundraising & Resource Development
- Identify and pursue new funding opportunities to ensure long-term financial sustainability.
- Develop fundraising strategies and meet annual revenue goals.
- Lead all fundraising efforts, including annual giving campaigns, major donor cultivation, sponsorships, and special events. Grant Writing & Grant Management
- Research, write, and submit competitive grant proposals to foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
- Oversee grant compliance, reporting requirements, and stewardship of grant-funded programs.
- Collaborate with program staff to develop measurable outcomes and evaluation plans for funded projects. Community Engagement & Public Relations
- Serve as the organization's primary spokesperson and ambassador.
- Build strong relationships with healthcare providers, schools, businesses, government agencies, community organizations, and other stakeholders. Business Development & Strategic Partnerships
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities that expand services and generate sustainable revenue.
- Develop partnerships that strengthen community impact and organizational capacity. Financial & Management
- Develop and manage the annual operating budget.
- Ensure sound financial management practices and effective stewardship of organizational resources.
- Oversee organizational policies, procedures, and risk management.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Staff Leadership & Human Resources
- Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate staff.
- Promote professional development and employee engagement.
- Ensure effective performance management and accountability across the organization. Board Relations & Governance
- Prepare and present budget and program reports to submit to the Board of Trustees at meetings.
- Collaborate with the Board of Trustees Secretary on the agenda items and preparation of board meeting documents.
- Support the Board's governance, strategic planning, and policy development.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Board of Directors and staff Program Oversight
- Ensure high-quality delivery of mental health services and programs.
- Monitor program effectiveness through data collection, evaluation, and continuous quality improvement.
- Ensure programs align with community needs and organizational goals. Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in nonprofit management, social work, public administration, business, counseling, psychology, or a related field preferred.
- Five or more years of progressive leadership experience in nonprofit management, healthcare, behavioral health, or a related field.
- Demonstrated success in fundraising, grant writing, and donor development.
- Experience managing budgets and organizational finances.

- Partnership Development Reporting Relationship The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Trustees and is responsible for implementing Board-approved policies and strategic initiatives while providing regular updates on organizational performance, financial health, fundraising progress, program outcomes, and emerging opportunities.
