Job Description

  • Job Title: Materials Coordinator
  • Job Description
  • The Materials Coordinator processes non-conformance reports for parts that do not meet product standards or specifications, coordinates disassembly of affected assemblies, arranges return of nonconforming parts to suppliers, and creates new work orders to receive replacement parts.

Once replacement parts arrive, this role enters them into the ERP system and ensures that work orders flow effectively through the shop according to the established priority system. This position plays a critical role in reducing past-due orders and limiting late orders for both internal and external customers, while supporting efficient warehouse and production operations.

  • Responsibilities
  • + Process non-conformance reports for parts that do not meet standards or specifications and ensure proper documentation.

+ Coordinate with the assembly team to disassemble assemblies containing nonconforming parts and identify the specific components that failed to meet requirements.

+ Arrange shipment of nonconforming parts back to suppliers and ensure proper tracking and documentation of returns.

+ Create new work orders for replacement parts and monitor their progress through the system.

+ Receive replacement parts and accurately enter them into the ERP system, ensuring inventory records are current and correct.

+ Move and organize work orders in each department daily to ensure orders are run in the correct priority sequence.

+ Track and expedite late orders on the shop floor to minimize delays and reduce past-due orders.

+ Locate missing orders and coordinate appropriate next steps with relevant departments to resolve issues quickly.

+ Coordinate and communicate order status, issues, and updates with cross-functional teams, including production, warehouse, and supply chain.

+ Fully track high-priority orders throughout their life cycle when required, ensuring timely completion and delivery.

+ Provide and implement continuous improvement ideas to enhance warehouse flow and overall materials handling efficiency.

+ Perform data entry related to work orders, inventory, non-conformance reports, and ERP transactions with a high level of accuracy.

+ Support packing, shipping, receiving, kitting, and inventory control activities as needed.

+ Comply with all safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized, and orderly work area.

+ Work with a large volume of small and tiny parts, ensuring accuracy and careful handling.

+ Demonstrate regular and dependable attendance and remain physically present on-site during scheduled hours.

+ Collaborate effectively with team members while also being able to work independently as tasks require.

  • Essential Skills
  • + Experience in material handling or related warehouse duties (required).

+ Experience working in a manufacturing environment (required).

+ Experience with shipping, receiving, and kitting operations.

+ Knowledge of safety policies and procedures and the ability to promote compliance.

+ Ability to use a computer and operate an ERP system.

+ Experience with work orders and inventory control processes.

+ Ability to handle and manage a large volume of small and tiny parts with precision.

+ Strong data entry skills and attention to detail.

+ Good communication skills to coordinate with multiple departments and teams.

+ Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

+ Ability to support supply chain, inventory management, and shipping and receiving activities.

  • Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • + Familiarity with processing non-conformance reports and coordinating returns to suppliers.

+ Experience in a fast-paced warehouse or production environment with high order volume.

+ Comfort working with ERP systems integrated with office and warehouse operations.

+ Ability to identify and suggest continuous improvement opportunities in warehouse flow and materials coordination.

+ Flexibility to support overtime and occasional weekend work to meet deadlines.

+ Strong organizational skills to manage multiple work orders and priorities simultaneously.

  • Work Environment
  • This role is based on-site on a second shift schedule from 6am to 2:30 p.

m., Monday through Friday. Overtime is mandatory during the last week of the month to meet deadlines, which may range from 1-2 additional hours per day, and some Saturdays may be required. The position is located in a manufacturing and warehouse setting, working closely with production, shipping and receiving, and inventory control functions. You will work around a high volume of small parts and use computers and an ERP system as part of your daily tasks. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and maintaining an orderly work area, with expectations for regular, dependable on-site attendance.

  • This is a Contract position based out of San Diego, CA.
  • Pay and Benefits
  • The pay range for this position is $23.

25 - $23.25/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your jobclassification and length of employment.
