Role Responsibilities:
Cycle Counting :
Conduct regular cycle counts of inventory items according to established schedules to verify stock accuracy. Count and record quantities of parts, materials, and supplies in designated areas.
Inventory Reconciliation :
Compare physical counts to system records, identify discrepancies, and investigate root causes. Update inventory records in the management system to reflect accurate stock levels.
Data Entry and Record Keeping :
Accurately input cycle count data, adjustments, and other inventory-related information into the inventory management system. Maintain organized and up-to-date records for audit purposes.
Stock Monitoring :
Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate stock for service and parts operations. Report low stock levels or overstock situations to supervisors for reorder or adjustment.
Quality Control :
Inspect inventory items during cycle counts for damage, obsolescence, or quality issues. Report defective or expired items to ensure proper handling or disposal.
Collaboration :
Work closely with the parts sales desk, shipping and receiving teams, and regional inventory managers to coordinate inventory movements and resolve discrepancies.
Process Compliance :
Adhere to established inventory control procedures, safety protocols, and company policies to ensure consistency and compliance with organizational standards.
Discrepancy Resolution :
Assist in investigating and resolving inventory discrepancies, including misplacements, incorrect shipments, or data entry errors, to maintain inventory accuracy.
Reporting :
Prepare and submit regular reports on cycle count results, inventory accuracy, and identified issues to supervisors or regional managers.
Equipment Use :
Safely operate warehouse equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or scanners, as needed to perform inventory counts and stock movements (if certified).
Inventory Organization :
Assist in organizing and maintaining a clean, orderly warehouse or stockroom to facilitate accurate counting and efficient access to inventory.
Support Audits :
Participate in periodic full inventory audits, providing support for physical counts and documentation as directed by management.
Continuous Improvement :
Suggest improvements to inventory processes, such as optimizing cycle count schedules or enhancing stock organization, to increase efficiency and accuracy. Process incoming shipments and support general inventory control functions under the direction of the Inventory Control Supervisor.
Requirements:
Ability to safely operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks; forklift certification is an advantage. Basic math and reading skills to accurately handle inventory and work orders. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand, bend, and move for extended periods. Strong attention to detail and commitment to following safety procedures. Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment. Willingness to follow standard operating procedures and adapt to changing priorities. Dependability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
Academic and Trades Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution environment is a plus but not always required.
