We're seeking a motivated and versatile Warehouse & Counter Sales Associate to join our Meredith team. In this dual role, you'll be the backbone of our branch operations — managing day-to-day warehouse functions while serving as a knowledgeable resource for our customers at the counter. Apply at: www.homans.com/careers Responsibilities Warehouse Operations Inventory Management & Processing — Receive, bin, and ship orders using barcode/RFID scanning technology while managing purchase orders and transfers with precision Equipment Operation — Safely operate material handling equipment, including forklifts, with daily pre-trip inspections and adherence to proper safety protocols Warehouse Organization — Maintain systematic storage operations, stage orders for shipment, and ensure accurate product placement throughout the facility System Management — Process inventory through warehouse management systems and shipping/receiving software with meticulous attention to detail Quality Control — Execute accurate picking, packing, and documentation while addressing discrepancies and operational issues promptly Safety & Compliance — Consistently adhere to OSHA guidelines and company safety standards in all warehouse activities Counter Sales & Customer Service Customer Engagement & Sales — Greet customers and answer incoming calls; identify needs and recommend HVAC equipment, parts, and supplies that best fit their requirements Product Knowledge & Promotion Awareness — Discuss features and benefits of merchandise; stay current on promotions and deals to maximize sales opportunities Order Processing & Problem-Solving — Research inventory availability using computer databases, prepare sales and quote orders, process payments, and handle product substitutions when needed Showroom & Inventory Coordination — Maintain organized displays, coordinate transfers, open orders, and warranty authorizations in collaboration with the broader team Multi-Tasking & Flexibility — Balance counter sales with clerical support, telephone outreach, and warehouse assistance — wearing multiple hats to keep branch operations running smoothly General Cross-Functional Collaboration — Partner with Store Associates and Sales Managers to deliver a seamless customer and operational experience Performance Standards — Meet productivity targets and deadlines while maintaining consistent attendance and punctuality Other duties as assigned Qualifications of aCounter Sales Associate:
Prior HVAC experience with basic technical knowledge preferred 2-3 years of warehouse, logistics, or counter sales experience Excellent customer service and communication skills Proficiency with inventory management systems, handheld scanning devices (barcode/RFID), and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to learn new software quickly Strong math skills for transactions, calculations, and quotes Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly, stand and walk for extended periods, and navigate warehouse spaces including climbing ladders, bending, and reaching as needed; assistance available for loads between 50-75 pounds Manual dexterity to handle packages, operate equipment, and use tools effectively Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and commitment to safety protocols Reliable, punctual, and professional with a team-oriented mindset High School Diploma or GED required Forklift certification preferred There's No Place like Homans!
