POSITION DESCRIPTION
-Purchaser
INTRODUCTION
This is the description for the position of Purchaser. The Purchaser will use their skills and insight to plan our materials and procurement needs for our immediate demand and future production requirements. Their work MUST adhere to ALL quality, safety, and efficiency policies.
REPORTING
The Purchaser reports directly to the Operations Manager, and interacts
RELATIONSHIPS
regularly with the Accounting, Engineering, and Sales.
OBJECTIVES
Complete customer satisfaction, exceed customer expectations.
RESPONSIBILITY
Professional appearance of all paperwork and equipment shipped out of the shop. Run reports (Production dashboard, Critical inventory), pull Kan-Ban cards, and materials requisition sheets to identify and order parts on a daily basis. Organizing part bins as well as maintaining labels and Kan-Ban cards. Forecasting for orders that are currently in Vision. Keep min, max levels up to date based on current and future production needs. Set appropriate reorder quantities based on usage and common deliveries volumes, and volume discount levels from vendors as well as lead times. All paperwork is complete and accurate. Work with technical department on special orders to order custom parts. Identify obsolete parts so they can be removed from production line. Run phase out inventory reports. Ensure international orders are dealt with and customs paperwork is submitted properly. Work with the accounting team to issue international payments. Check open PO's and ensure they are being received Source and negotiate best pricing from vendors. Locate alternate vendors for material supply. Keep preferred vendor lists up to date. Ensure that bin locations and pictures are updated in Fishbowl.

DESCRIPTION
-Purchaser Organizational Manual Work with Tech department on controller PCB component ordering as well as monthly follow ups with vendors. Bring delivery issues up with management in a timely fashion at weekly meetings. Track shipment deliveries and expedite as required. Establish closer relationships with key vendors to mitigate any supply interruptions or delays. Ensure inventory turns do not get out of hand and stay at a reasonable level. Suggest and help to refine our administrative systems for tracking purchasing, purchase orders, production planning and inventory control. Proper tracking of both raw and finished inventory. Work safely without near miss and/or incidents. Follow all safety rules and policies including intervening with unsafe acts, following procedures where they exist, and fill out the applicable safety reports when necessary. Complete all required safety training. (
Example:
WHMIS, Initial Orientation) Qualify potential new vendors based on cost. Quality, availability, commercial terms, and service levels. Assist in monthly inventory counts. Page 2 of 3 POSITION

PERFORMANCE 1.
Quality of purchasing, materials arrive in time for production.
CRITERIA 2.
Critical items are appropriately stocked to minimize production risk. 3. Manage Inventory levels and a Reasonable Inventory Turns metric. 4. Continuous improvement in pricing from appropriate negotiation, planning, blanket purchase arrangements and staged deliveries. 5. Extremely accurate paperwork, and PO`s, delivery times. 6. Constant understanding of deliveries to and from shop and status of deliveries. 7. Inventory is properly tracked and accurate. 8. Effective team member. 9. Positive attitude in the workplace. 10. All other responsibilities are performed well. 11. Reliability and promptness. 12. Was effective in contributing profitable ideas.
