About the role A private home is looking for a detail-driven Inventory Specialist to document and organize the full contents of a large family home. This is a substantial, multi-month project with a high volume of items. You'll catalog everything from everyday household goods to cherished family keepsakes, heirloom textiles, vintage children's clothing, and decorative collections. Many pieces carry sentimental or significant value, so careful handling and complete confidentiality are essential. What you'll do Catalog items room by room, recording description, condition, dimensions, materials, maker or markings, and location Photograph each item clearly and link photos to its record Enter and maintain all data in a spreadsheet or inventory software with consistent naming and categories Handle delicate items carefully, including antique fabrics, keepsakes, and framed or decorative pieces Label, sort, and organize storage areas so items can be found quickly Track items that move, are loaned, sent out for cleaning or appraisal, or are gifted Keep receipts, appraisals, and provenance documents filed and matched to records Provide regular progress updates and flag items needing repair or specialist attention What you bring Required Strong administrative skills: you're organized, accurate, and comfortable managing large amounts of data Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills (sorting, filtering, consistent data entry) Exceptional attention to detail and the patience for methodical, repetitive work Proven discretion; you'll sign a confidentiality agreement and pass a background check Ability to work independently, stay on schedule, and report progress clearly Comfort standing, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs A plus Experience in moving/organizing work. Familiarity with inventory or collection-management software Knowledge of textiles, antiques, or caring for delicate items Basic product photography skills
