Full-Time GLC Government Services is seeking a qualified Medical Supply Technician to support a government contract at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the proper management, distribution, decontamination, and sterilization of medical supplies in a clinical and research healthcare environment. Schedule Full-time, 40 hours per week
Shifts:
7:30am - 4pm Rotating weekends and holidays required Requirements Demonstrated ability to read and write in English, including understanding supply packaging and label instructions Proficiency with computers and basic applications, including email and Microsoft Office Experience working in a patient care or healthcare facility
Preferred:
Minimum six (6) months of medical supply technician
Perform systematized supply operations including inventory management, storage, cataloging, receipt, and control processes Maintain stock levels within prescribed limits; establish or adjust reorder points using standard formulas and procedures Conduct physical inventories and update inventory, stock, and property records accordingly Process stock receipts, store materials appropriately, and issue supplies to designated personnel Reorder supplies when stock reaches designated levels Prepare standard inventory and variance reports Identify requirements and requisition, issue, or distribute office and administrative supplies, forms, and publications Operate computer systems to perform records searches, data entry, and data corrections Communicate with customers, supply organizations, and transportation units to obtain status updates and expedite deliveries
Procurement & Documentation:
Review and process supply lists for planned programs or operations Initiate, prepare, edit, and process requisitions to appropriate supply organizations Research catalogs and records to verify stock numbers or identify authorized substitute items
Decontamination & Sterile Processing:
Receive reusable medical instruments and supplies; disassemble and inspect for damage prior to cleaning Remove soil, blood, tissue, and other contaminants through washing, soaking, rinsing, and ultrasonic cleaning Load, operate, and test sterilization and cleaning equipment to ensure effectiveness Prepare instrument trays and packs to allow proper sterilization penetration Inspect sterilized trays, sets, and equipment for sterility assurance Label sterilized items with sterilization and expiration dates Stock sterile supplies appropriately This position offers the opportunity to support one of the nation's leading medical research institutions while contributing to safe and efficient healthcare operations.
