Hospital & Healthcare - About the Role Our client, a leading healthcare organization serving communities throughout the Twin Cities, is seeking an Inventory Specialist to support supply distribution and inventory management within a hospital environment. This role plays a key part in ensuring clinical teams have timely access to the medical supplies and equipment needed to provide high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will have experience in healthcare inventory control, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced clinical setting while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Job Description As an Inventory Specialist, you will be responsible for managing inventory levels, distributing medical supplies, and supporting supply chain operations across patient care and ancillary departments. This position helps maintain efficient inventory processes to ensure uninterrupted daily operations throughout the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
Verify, replenish, and maintain par-level inventory within nursing clean supply and PAR rooms. Count, pick, prepare, and distribute low unit of measure (LUM) medical supplies. Prepare chargeable supplies for dispensing and distribution. Identify instruments, trays, and supplies requiring restocking. Deliver medical and surgical supplies based on established priorities. Accept and process requests received verbally, by phone, through Epic, or handheld terminal devices. Maintain clean, organized, and accurately stocked supply areas. Prepare mobile medical equipment for use by clinical staff. Inspect inventory for package integrity and remove expired or damaged items. Receive and verify stock and non-stock items and report inventory discrepancies. Perform cycle counts and other inventory audits as assigned. Monitor product expiration dates and rotate inventory to minimize waste. Distribute equipment and furniture to patient care and support departments as needed. Support additional inventory and supply chain functions to meet operational needs.
Qualifications Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Inventory control experience within a healthcare or hospital setting. Knowledge of medical terminology. Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to learn inventory management systems and healthcare technology platforms. Ability to accurately count, track, and replenish inventory. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple requests in a fast-paced environment. Ability to frequently walk, stand, lift, carry, and transport medical supplies and equipment throughout the facility. Ability to maintain accurate inventory records and documentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience supporting hospital supply chain, materials management, distribution, or logistics operations. Experience using Epic or other healthcare electronic systems. Experience performing cycle counts, inventory audits, and inventory reconciliation. Familiarity with par-level inventory management and medical supply distribution processes. Experience working in clinical, hospital, or patient-care environments.
