Position Summary Under general supervision of the IT Director, this position serves as the agency's primary (Tier 2) advanced desktop and related technology support technician. Independently driven, this role delivers elevated, non-routine technical problem resolution, hands-on support, and technical consulting across a diverse, specialized ecosystem. This spans standard desktops, laptops, mobile devices, field peripherals, retail point-of-sale (POS) systems, and both cloud-hosted and on-premises software deployed across research libraries, archives, historic sites, and agency administrative facilities statewide. This role acts as the dedicated agency liaison, technical partner, and primary escalation point for both the Department of Administration (DOA) Helpdesk and DOA Client Engineering teams on complex technical incidents and agency-specific cultural heritage and library systems. Beyond advanced endpoint support, this position drives core operational lifecycle and technology management. Working closely alongside the User Security & Compliance Coordinator, the Inventory & Solutions Support technician coordinates user provisioning and deprovisioning, manages IT access lifecycles, serves as an operational backup for user security permissions, and helps govern software licensing compliance and seat counts. The role is also responsible for administering the agency's Mobile Device Management (MDM) platform used for specialized agency technologies (e.g., retail POS, ticketing systems, archeology field mapping equipment), leads technology acquisition advisory and procurement workflows, establishes workstation baseline configurations, supports unique field mapping and archive-specific systems, and directs the day-to-day technical tasks of student work-study staff. Salary Information The salary will be between $30.76 - $35.00 per hour plus excellent benefits. Pay on appointment for current or former state employees may vary according to the applicable pay provisions found in the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan. This position is in pay schedule 07, range 34. The classification for this position is IS Technical Services Senior. A 12-month probationary period will be required. Qualifications Please make sure to describe the following qualifications within your resume and/or letter of qualifications in order to be considered for this position. A minimally qualified candidate will have experience in all of the following: Strong demonstrated experience directly supporting specialized cultural heritage, retail and ticketing, library and archives, and/or archeology field surveying technologies Strong understanding of state procurement rules, workflows, and best practices (soliciting quotes, evaluating state contract purchasing options, tracking asset lifecycles and software licensing) Strong understanding of mobile device management solutions not limited to configuring policies, pushing profiles, app restrictions, etc. In addition to meeting minimum qualifications, a well-qualified candidate will have demonstrated experience in one of the following areas: Familiarity with user identity management, provisioning lifecycles, role-based access permissions, and basic enterprise cybersecurity best practices Experience acting as the primary escalation point for tier-1 Helpdesk reported technical issues Experience with IT vendor management, tracking fulfillment times, service level agreements, and other deliverables How To Apply To apply, click "Apply for Job" to start the application process.
