This position is responsible for performing laborer duties for the Water Department to assist in maintaining Brewster's award-winning water distribution system. Under the director of the Water Department Foreman the position is responsible for assisting in providing water service and repairing water main leaks throughout the Town. Installs, removes, and reads water meters. Assists in repairs and maintenance of fire hydrants and ensures adequate water pressure of hydrants. Participates in semi-annual water system flushing to cleanse water mains. Operates equipment, tools and machinery used in the maintenance and repair of water distribution systems. Serves as essential personnel for department requiring work during emergencies. High School Diploma or equivalent, and up to one year of prior experience in the maintenance of water systems, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid driver's license required. MA certified drinking water license Distribution Level 1 or ability to obtain license in first year of employment. The Town provides training and advancement opportunities with the addition of higher-level licenses. The ideal candidate will be a team player with mechanical ability and an interest in learning more about the municipal water industry. Interested?
