The City of Gladwin is seeking a motivated and dependable individual to join our Department of Public Works team. The DPW Laborer performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks related to the maintenance, repair, and operation of City infrastructure and public services. This position will also include training at either the City's Wastewater Treatment Plant or Iron Removal (Water Treatment) Plant, offering a great opportunity to gain experience in utility operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform routine maintenance and repair of city streets, sidewalks, signs, and public rights-of-way Assist in the maintenance and repair of the water distribution system, including hydrants, valves, meters, and service lines Participate in the maintenance and repair of the sanitary and storm sewer systems Ability to operate a variety of power tools and heavy equipment such as dump trucks, loaders, snowplows, and mowers Perform snow and ice removal on city streets, sidewalks, and parking areas during winter months Assist with tree trimming, brush removal, leaf collection, and park maintenance Maintain and repair public buildings and facilities as needed Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and respond to emergency calls as needed Assist at either the City's Wastewater Treatment Plant or Iron Removal Plant, including basic plant operations, maintenance, and recordkeeping Perform other duties assigned by the DPW Superintendent Strong work ethic and ability to work independently or as part of a team
