Job Description
Overview Join our team as an Aerial Laborer in the telecommunications industry, where you'll play a vital role in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting fiber optic and network infrastructure. This position offers hands-on outdoor work, utilizing heavy equipment and specialized tools to ensure the seamless operation of telecommunications systems. Duties Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks, and other lifting devices to install and service aerial telecommunications cables and fiber optic systems. Perform telecommunications outside plant operations, including cable splicing, fiber optic network installation, and testing using specialized telecommunications testing equipment. Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints to accurately execute cable routing and infrastructure setup. Install telecommunications cables outdoors while adhering strictly to safety standards outlined in the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC). Maintain detailed records of installations, repairs, and inspections while supporting ongoing network infrastructure upgrades. Experience Proven experience in field service roles involving outdoor work environments with a focus on telecommunications or utility services. Hands-on experience operating heavy equipment such as bucket trucks, power tools, and hand tools required for cable installation and maintenance. Knowledge of fiber optic cables, fiber splicing techniques, and the installation of telecommunications network cables. Familiarity with telecommunication systems including Ethernet, telephony, LAN, WAN, and IT infrastructure components. Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics related to cabling layouts and network infrastructure. Strong understanding of safety protocols aligned with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) for outdoor electrical work. Technical proficiency with diagnostic tools used for troubleshooting fiber optic networks and telecommunication systems. Experience working outdoors in various weather conditions with a focus on safety compliance and quality workmanship.
