No County Broome Street Address Kirkwood Sub-Office City Kirkwood State NY Zip Code 13795 Duties Description Supervise laborers and other staff whose duties include facility maintenance and construction. Assist with the operation and maintenance of DEC facilities, including buildings, flood control projects, fishing access sites, and state forests. Must be able to operate light and heavy equipment and power tools safely and efficiently. Perform carpentry, plumbing, tree felling, and other skilled trades as needed. Provide written documentation of work performed, as well as purchasing, fuel usage, mileage reporting, etc. Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services. When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated. Additional Comments Must have a valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Transportation needs of this position require use of a state vehicle and adhering to the Department's Vehicle Policy. You must have and maintain a valid driver's license for this position. Use of personal protection equipment, including a respirator, will be required. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain. Must be able to work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel may be required. Overtime may be required. Overnight travel may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be available for emergency response. Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 75 pounds.
