Job Overview This is a part-time position with the Hamlin-Morton-Walker Fire District. The individual is responsible for the independent performance of physical duties. The employees will work with hand tools, light equipment, and interact with district leaders, members, and vendors. The employee reports directly to, and works under the District Administrator. When needed, this employee is required to perform all assigned tasks and other duties required by the Hamlin-Morton-Walker Fire District. Responsibilities Moves, lifts, and carries heavy objects and materials up to 80 lbs. Maintain Exteriors of Buildings including flowers, shrubs, and trees. Shovels, snow blows, and salts to remove snow/ice and maintain sidewalks and aprons at all HMW properties. Operates manual and/or power-driven equipment. Engages in general maintenance and weekly clean-up activities at all HMW District properties, equipment, and structures to include bathrooms, offices, kitchens, meeting rooms, and truck rooms. Utilizes SCBA fill station to fill air cylinders and logs any noticeable observations of damage or significance. Any other tasks assigned by the District Administrator. Required Skills General knowledge of building systems and fire apparatus. Knowledge of lawn and snow removal equipment operation and basic repair of equipment. Knowledge of basic power tool operation. Basic computer knowledge and typing skills. Understanding of database management systems including Alpine Red Alert. Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills. Maintains a clean driving record. Adhere to the Hamlin-Morton-Walker Fire District policies and procedures. Education & Minimum Qualifications Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma. Possession of valid New York State Driver's License, Class D or higher. Maintain a valid CPR certification. (Must be obtained within 3 months) Must be 21 years of age to apply.
