Job Description

Purpose of Position:
Under the supervision of the Foreman or Crew Leader, the Laborer performs road maintenance, works on road improvement projects, provides services relating to the State and County Highway systems in emergency situations, and helps provide highway safety in the County. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following duties are normal for this position and this list is not exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Perform duties as assigned such as various highway improvement, maintenance and repair work Operate mowers and other equipment as directed Consult with supervisor(s) to obtain project or procedure changes Perform heavy manual work Perform preventative maintenance in accordance with prescribed methods. Assist with equipment maintenance including, but not limited to, greasing, oil changes, regular thorough washing and cleaning, minor repairs, mounting and dismounting of equipment attachments, changing plow and wing blades Perform related work, including labor and semi-skilled assignments Complete accurate operational and preventative maintenance records in a neat, clear, timely and concise manner Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions A high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of experience in light equipment operation and highway maintenance. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
