Transportation Billing Clerk Job Summary The Transportation Billing Clerk is responsible for processing, auditing, and managing transportation-related invoices and billing records. This role ensures accurate freight billing, verifies shipment charges, resolves billing discrepancies, and supports transportation and accounting operations. The Transportation Billing Clerk works closely with carriers, drivers, customers, logistics personnel, and finance teams to maintain accurate financial records and ensure timely payments. Key Responsibilities- Review, verify, and process transportation and freight invoices for accuracy.
- Match bills of lading, delivery receipts, rate schedules, and supporting documentation to invoices.
- Prepare and generate customer invoices for transportation services.
- Audit freight charges and identify billing discrepancies.
- Research and resolve invoice issues with carriers, customers, and internal departments.
- Enter billing data into transportation management systems (TMS), accounting software, or ERP systems.
- Reconcile transportation freight bills.
- Maintain filing systems and documentation for audits and compliance purposes.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and transportation regulations.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in transportation billing, logistics, accounting, or administrative support preferred.
- Knowledge of freight billing, transportation documentation, and shipping procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience with TMS, ERP, or accounting software is preferred.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills are important.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills are important.
