Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Production Planner to join our manufacturing team. Your expertise in supply chain management, demand forecasting, and production management systems will drive efficiency and support our commitment to delivering high-quality products on time. Summary The Production Planner will be responsible for planning and coordinating production activities to ensure timely delivery of products. This role involves scheduling, material sourcing, and close collaboration with engineering, procurement, and production teams. This position works under the guidance of the Director of Engineering and Operations to align planning activities with overall project and organizational goals. This role requires an understanding of manufacturing processes, ERP systems, and continuous improvement methodologies to enhance overall production efficiency and product quality. Duties Review Sales Order documents and utilize Vault to identify material quantities and/or requirements. Create interim MRP for each project with specific Work Order and Sales Order numbers utilizing data provided from Engineering. Create Travelers for purchased items, raw materials, outside processing, weld operations and machining of parts. Distribute Work Orders to various departments. Update Machining and Material Prep priority lists with new parts that require manufacturing. Communicate with department Leads to understand progress or needs. Update Sales and Production Manager on project statuses to include material availability, long lead items, outside process lead times, potential or occurring issues in manufacturing that may affect delivery. Monitor projects for successful completion. Revise Travelers as needed. Create project status report if/when required for Sales update to include inventory of raw material, purchased or manufactured complete items, long lead items, part in process and any outside process. Update Customer dock dates list with progress, missing items, long lead items or special notes for the Production Team to review. Create Travelers for Front Load projects to include purchased items, raw materials, outside processing, weld operations and machining of parts. Collaborate with Engineering as needed. Examine documents, materials, or products and monitor work processes to assess completeness, accuracy, and conformance to standards and specifications. Other duties as assigned.
