The primary focus of this role is non-emergency stretcher transportation , with wheelchair transportation performed as needed throughout the Tampa Bay area. This is a full-time position averaging approximately 30-40 hours per week . This position is not intended for part-time availability. Team members must have availability for varying shifts between 6:00 AM and 9:00 PM, Monday through Saturday. This does not mean employees work from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM each day. Reporting and end times vary based on scheduled transportation, and daily schedules are generally provided the afternoon before. Professional driving experience is required. Previous experience in NEMT, stretcher transportation, wheelchair transportation, EMS, medical transportation, or professional passenger transportation is strongly preferred. This is a hands-on transportation position, not simply a driving role. Stretcher transportation requires physical patient assistance, loading and unloading, securement, equipment operation, and safe patient movement. This is a non-emergency medical transportation position and is not a caregiver or emergency response role. No CDL is required. Skyline Transport provides the company vehicle and fuel during scheduled shifts.
Minimum Qualifications Applicants must have:
Must be at least 25 years of age to meet company commercial auto insurance eligibility requirements At least 1 year of professional driving experience Valid driver's license Driving history that meets company and commercial auto insurance eligibility requirements Reliable transportation to and from our Brandon office Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate Ability to successfully complete applicable pre-employment screening requirements Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation Effective spoken and written English communication skills necessary to safely perform job responsibilities Candidates who live within approximately 30 minutes of our Brandon office are preferred due to varying reporting times. Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. Spanish and other language skills are preferred but not required. Relevant Experience Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience in: Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Stretcher transportation Wheelchair transportation Medical transportation EMS or ambulance transportation Healthcare or professional passenger transportation Professional driving experience with FedEx, UPS, USPS, shuttle services, delivery services, rideshare, commercial driving, or comparable positions may also be considered. Certifications & Credentials The following certifications and credentials are required for this position: CPR / First Aid / AED PASS Basic PASS Wheelchair Securement / Hands-On Training Defensive Driving HIPAA Training Fraud, Waste & Abuse (FWA) Training Hillsborough County Vehicle-for-Hire Driver Badge DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate Preference will be given to applicants who already possess applicable current certifications and credentials. Candidates who do not currently have every required certification may still be considered but must successfully complete required training and credentialing within applicable onboarding timeframes before performing duties requiring those credentials. Job Responsibilities Complete stretcher transports as the primary job responsibility and wheelchair transports as assigned Safely transport passengers between hospitals, rehabilitation centers, dialysis facilities, medical appointments, residences, and other approved destinations Assist with patient movement and transfers using approved procedures and team assistance when appropriate Properly load, unload, and secure stretcher and wheelchair passengers Push and maneuver occupied stretchers and wheelchairs Operate wheelchair lifts, ramps, stretchers, and passenger securement systems Perform required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections Maintain communication with dispatch throughout the workday Complete required trip and transportation documentation Keep assigned company vehicles clean and professional Provide professional and respectful service to patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare facility staff Follow all company safety, confidentiality, and transportation procedures Perform other duties as assigned Physical Demands This is a physically active, hands-on transportation position. Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation, including: Push, pull, and maneuver occupied stretchers and wheelchairs Assist with patient movement and transfers Bend, kneel, stoop, reach, stand, and walk throughout the workday Repeatedly enter and exit transportation vehicles Operate wheelchair lifts, ramps, stretchers, and securement equipment Assist with combined passenger and equipment loads that may exceed 200 pounds , utilizing appropriate equipment and team assistance when required Work Schedule Full-Time | Approximately 30-40 Hours Per Week | Weekly Pay Drivers must be available for varying shifts between 6:00 AM and 9:00 PM, Monday through Saturday. Daily start and end times are based on scheduled transportation. Some shifts may begin as early as 6:00 AM, while later appointments or return trips may require employees to work as late as 9:00 PM. Dependability, punctuality, and reasonable schedule flexibility are essential for this position. All company vehicles begin and end their shifts at our Brandon location and may not be taken home.
