The Specialty Materials segment manufactures products that provide more than 150 material formulations for glass, glass ceramics and fluoride crystals to meet demand for unique customer needs. Consequently, this segment operates in a wide variety of commercial and industrial markets that include display optics and components, semiconductor optics components, aerospace and defense, astronomy, ophthalmic products, telecommunications components and cover glass that is optimized for portable display devices. Role Purpose
Summer internship position to support supply chain improvement processes. Position will work in the areas of planning, inventory control and distribution of Mobile Consumer products. This may include but not be limited to analysis of inventory, lead times, and capacity as well as initiatives to improve those metrics. Duties may also include leading or supporting business process improvements to reduce cost and complexity of the supply chain as well as Project Management (or Assistant Project Management- based on size and scope) of a supply chain project in North America.
Key Responsibilities Utilize sound supply chain skills to analyze capacity, inventory on hand or order promise metrics. Develop theories and potential solutions and recommend those solutions.
Use of current supply chain concepts and tools to drive for fundamental understanding.
Work in a cross-functional environment: link between supply chain counterparts, quality, commercial, and manufacturing to deliver the best possible solution
Use of rigorous tools to deliver results including problem analysis, potential problem analysis, risk assessment, and DMAIC methodology.
Intern will work as part of the Harrodsburg Supply Chain Department with access to planning, scheduling, distribution, process excellence and project management disciplines
The intern will work on solo and team projects which can range from analysis and to process improvements in the areas of Planning, inventory control, warehousing and transportation and business processes.
Education/Skills- Required Working toward BS in Supply Chain, MIS, Finance or Supply Chain certification / Minor
Rising Junior or higher
Capability for analysis / Use and understanding of Microsoft office tools
Ability to use data to drive to solutions
Supply chain background or related academic knowledge
Working knowledge of basic statistics
Communication skills, both written, oral and presentations This position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly. Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
