Buyer Planner - Production Planning, Materials Planning

Billerica, MA

Posted TodayNEW Buyer-Planner Based in Billerica, MA, we are an industry leader manufacturing highly engineered electro-mechanical products for customers operating in technology-driven and industrial markets. We're seeking a Buyer-Planner to support production operations through effective inventory management, material planning, purchasing, and supplier coordination. This role will work closely with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Warehouse, and Operations teams to ensure the timely availability of materials needed to meet customer demand and production schedules.

Role and Responsibilities:

Review MRP requirements and execute purchase orders, blanket order releases, and material replenishment activities

Analyze material demand and production requirements to support manufacturing schedules and work order releases

Coordinate with suppliers to manage purchase order status, lead times, delivery schedules, and material shortages

Expedite critical materials and maintain accurate supplier communication to support on-time production

Release manufacturing work orders based on material availability and production requirements

Participate in daily production meetings and cross-functional operations reviews

Partner with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Warehouse, and Planning teams to improve material flow and operational efficiency

Support continuous improvement initiatives including Kanban, vendor-managed inventory (VMI), and lean manufacturing efforts

Participate in Kaizen events, value stream mapping activities, and root cause analysis projects

Monitor inventory levels and help maintain appropriate material availability while minimizing excess inventory

Assist with reporting, data analysis, and supply chain performance improvement initiatives

Qualifications:

Associate's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related discipline

3+ years of supply chain experience within a manufacturing environment

Experience performing both purchasing and planning functions using MRP systems

Experience with ERP systems and production planning processes

Experience working directly with suppliers regarding purchase orders, deliveries, shortages, and material planning

Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Experience collaborating with Operations, Manufacturing, Warehouse, and Purchasing teams

Preferred Qualifications:

Oracle Fusion Cloud experience

Experience with Kanban, VMI, or lean manufacturing initiatives

Inventory management and warehouse operations experience

APICS certifications such as CPIM or CSCP

Experience participating in Kaizen events, value stream mapping, or continuous improvement initiatives Benefits Base Salary Between $65-80k + Bonus Potential
