Logistics and Rental Officer Job Summary:
The Logistics and Rental Officer is primarily responsible for ensuring Methuen Public Schools (6 buildings) are equipped to provide a safe, secure learning and transportation environment, and for overseeing the district's facility rental program.
Qualifications:
5 years of experience in management, preferably in one of the following areas: Safety, Transportation, Education, Logistics Strong written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills. Strong background in community relations and people skills. Experience working as a liaison with external agencies Bilingual (English and Spanish, preferred) Must be flexible and available at varying hours. Knowledge of Methuen and the surrounding area preferred
Responsibilities:
Review facility-use requests and coordinate approvals in accordance with district policies, rental procedures, insurance requirements, and applicable municipal and state regulations. Develop event logistics plans, including facility access, setup and breakdown, custodial coverage, staffing, equipment, parking, security, technology, signage, and other operational needs. Coordinate with custodial and maintenance staff to ensure facilities are prepared for scheduled events and appropriately secured following events. Oversee facility rentals and events to ensure compliance with approved schedules, rental agreements, capacity requirements, safety procedures, billing, and district expectations. Review and recommend updates to facility rental rates, fee structures, policies, procedures, and user agreements based on market conditions, district costs, and community needs. Identify opportunities to increase appropriate use of underutilized district facilities while protecting instructional priorities and ensuring adequate time for school activities. Develop and maintain standardized facility rental forms, procedures, checklists, user agreements, and event-planning resources. Establish and maintain positive relationships with community partners and facility users while providing responsive and professional customer service. Market and advertise available spaces for rental. Develop community partnerships and establish sponsorship opportunities. Annually update and participate in the development and maintenance of the District's Safety plans in conjunction with the Methuen Police and Fire Departments. Serve as the Liaison for the Methuen Police and Fire Department to coordinate the periodic drills and training for schools. Interact with and advise all building principals in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the school safety plan. Direct and coordinate periodic assessments of school buildings and grounds to determine possible safety and security issues. Directly oversee all transportation contracted by the Methuen Public Schools. Train and manage crossing guards. Manage communications and concerns from the community (parents and others). Work with schools, parents, and Methuen's transportation providers to address all transportation-related issues. Create bus routes when needed. Oversee maintenance and usage of the district's vehicle fleet. Monitor transportation vendor performance and ensure compliance with all applicable contractual requirements and performance standards. Perform any other duty as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or their designee
Job Specifications:
This is a 12-month unaffiliated position with a salary range of $75,000-85,000 The Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations will supervise the Logistics and Rental Officer. They will meet regularly to discuss safety, transportation, and rental plans, budget, resource allocation, and other related issues.
