Material Planner

Job Description

We are seeking a Materials Analyst to support material planning and inventory activities within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for ensuring the appropriate materials are available to support production schedules while maintaining accurate inventory levels and minimizing shortages and unnecessary costs. The ideal candidate will have experience with material planning, MRP systems, supplier communication, and inventory management within a manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Monitor material requirements to ensure parts are available to support production schedules. Create and maintain supplier releases based on production demand. Communicate with suppliers regarding material requirements, shortages, delivery schedules, and potential delays. Monitor inventory levels and identify potential shortages before they impact production. Work closely with Production to prioritize and resolve material-related issues. Investigate inventory and material discrepancies and identify root causes. Coordinate the movement of materials between manufacturing and warehouse locations. Support cycle counting and inventory accuracy initiatives. Establish and maintain appropriate safety stock levels. Work with Engineering and other departments to coordinate new parts, product changes, and material transitions. Track and communicate key materials and supply chain performance metrics. Support freight and inventory planning activities. Participate in production and supply chain planning meetings. Assist with additional materials and supply chain activities as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred. Candidates without a bachelor's degree may be considered with 4+ years of relevant materials, purchasing, planning, or supply chain experience. 2+ years of experience working with MRP/material planning within a manufacturing environment. Experience working within an ERP system required; PLEX experience is a plus. Strong understanding of inventory management and material flow. Experience working with suppliers to manage material requirements and delivery schedules. Experience with international suppliers is preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. Experience with customs and duties processes is a plus. Experience managing fabric, trim, consigned, or subcontracted materials is a plus. Spanish or German language skills are a plus.
