Job Description

Job Responsibilities & Duties Communicate with internal customers to provide information on shipment status, anticipated service failures, pickup and delivery dates/times and alternate solutions where possible. Interact closely with forwarders / carriers / dispatch to receive information on shipments. Provide support to customer service / sales regarding service capabilities, rates, and power availability to build and grow relationships with key accounts. Respond to questions and requests as quickly as possible; making every effort to meet customer expectations. Update carrier contact information in SAP as quickly as changes are learned . Ensure all trucks conform to the Safe Quality Food standards as well as HACCP standards for distribution of finished goods. Negotiate freight rates with forwarders/carriers for domestic lanes and container rates for importing/exporting. Oversee import/export shipment processes and procedures; providing improvements and changes as needed. Resolve any international documentation issues and foreign country import requirements. Complete customs clearance documentation for all imported trade goods. Daily use of SAP Business 1 and excel to communicate with the customer service team. Problem solve issues such as damages, shortages and transportation. Record keeping of shipment data such as weight, charges and damages. Dispatch freight for delivery and arrange freight for pickup. Complete documentation including bills of lading, sales orders and the use of computer based technology. Write procedures and policies that contribute to making the Logistics Department flow more efficiently. Other Duties as assigned. Requirements Bachelor's degree preferred. 1-4 years Logistics/Supply Chain or equivalent job experience in an industrial environment. Strong analytical and critical skills. 1 year customer service experience preferred. Experience with international business partners, specifically German, a plus. Adept in use of MS Office, particularly Outlook, Excel and Word, and ideally Power Point to basic level. Experienced with order processing software, preferably SAP. Able to perform business math calculations. Good typing skills (60 words per minute; 10-key). Excellent organizational and time management skills.
