Logistics Specialist Job Summary The Logistics Specialist at STI coordinates inbound and outbound shipping activities and provides administrative support for the company's logistics operations. This position works with customers, carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, warehouse personnel, sales, and other internal departments to ensure shipments are scheduled, documented, tracked, and delivered accurately and on time. The Logistics Specialist also supports inventory management, warehousing, sourcing, receiving, purchasing, and transportation activities while helping control freight costs and maintain customer compliance. Duties/Responsibilities Coordinates inbound and outbound domestic and international shipments Schedules shipments and pickups through carrier and customer portals Follows customer routing guides, shipping instructions, labeling standards, appointment requirements, and documentation deadlines Coordinates LTL, FTL, parcel, and other freight shipments Obtains freight quotes and provide shipping costs and options to the sales department Serves as a primary contact for carriers and assist with scheduling, tracking, and delivery issues Prepares bills of lading, shipping labels, packing lists, commercial invoices, certificates of origin, and related shipping documents Prepares and submits Shipper's Letters of Instruction (SLIs) and supporting export documentation for customer-booked ocean-container shipments Coordinates international documentation with customers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other parties Review customer-provided container booking information and verify shipment details, quantities, weights, destinations, and documentation requirements Enters and maintains tracking numbers, bills of lading, shipment status, and other logistics information in the ERP system Tracks shipments and communicate delays, shortages, damages, or delivery issues Investigates and resolves portal errors, rejected shipments, routing discrepancies, missing documentation, and freight claims Helps prevent customer chargebacks and compliance violations Coordinates with warehouse and production personnel to ensure orders are complete and ready for scheduled pickups Supports inventory management, warehousing, sourcing, receiving, purchasing, and dispatching activities Maintains organized and accurate shipping and export records Identifies cost-effective transportation options while meeting customer and delivery requirements Performs other logistics-related duties as assigned Skills/Abilities Knowledge of domestic and international shipping procedures Experience scheduling shipments through carrier and customer portals Familiarity with LTL and FTL freight coordination Ability to read and follow customer routing guides and shipping requirements Strong written and verbal communication skills Professional telephone and email etiquette Strong organizational and time-management skills Excellent attention to detail and recordkeeping Ability to retrieve, process, maintain, and report information accurately Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive shipments and changing priorities Strong problem-solving and follow-up skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook Experience using ERP, WMS, or carrier shipping systems Ability to work effectively with customers, carriers, customs brokers, warehouse personnel, sales, and other internal departments Dependable attendance, a positive attitude, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team Education and Experience One to three years of related experience in shipping, logistics, transportation, warehousing, or order fulfillment required Experience using customer and carrier shipping portals preferred Experience with customs documentation, SLIs, and customer-compliance requirements preferred Familiarity with Incoterms, HTS or Schedule B classifications, and country-of-origin requirements is a plus This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
