Production & Materials Planner Hillsborough, NC Area $85,000-$95,000 + 6% Bonus Monday-Friday | 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. | Fully Onsite A growing food manufacturer is hiring a Production & Materials Planner to support a fast-moving manufacturing plant. The position combines production scheduling and material planning, but you do not need to be equally experienced in both. Someone with a strong background in either production scheduling or material planning/purchasing can be considered. This is a fully onsite position with no remote or hybrid option. What You'll Do Create and adjust daily production schedules based on demand, capacity, labor and material availability Build material replenishment plans using MRP outputs, forecasts, inventory targets and supplier lead times Create and manage purchase orders through an ERP system Monitor open orders, supplier commitments and material deliveries Expedite critical materials and resolve shortages before they disrupt production Monitor production results and adjust priorities as conditions change Maintain production orders, planning parameters and master data Analyze inventory turns, days on hand, excess and obsolete materials, and warehouse capacity Work closely with Production, Quality, Procurement, Warehouse, Logistics and Sales Support continuous improvement projects related to service, inventory, cost and operational efficiency What We Need At least 5 years of experience in production planning, material planning, purchasing or a related manufacturing supply chain role Strong experience in either production scheduling or material planning/purchasing; experience in both is helpful but not required Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Mathematics or another analytical discipline strongly preferred Candidates without a bachelor's degree must have at least 7 years of directly applicable experience Experience working in a manufacturing environment Strong understanding of MRP concepts Experience with SAP, Oracle, Great Plains, Epicor or another ERP system Experience coordinating with vendors and managing delivery plans Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables and importing data Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills Comfort working with technology, data and multiple cross-functional teams Ability to work onsite full-time Stable employment history strongly preferred Preferred, Not Required Food, beverage, CPG or other fast-moving manufacturing experience Experience with primary or tertiary packaging materials SAP experience APICS CPIM or CSCP certification Excel macros or other automation experience Candidates from aerospace, medical device, pharmaceutical, automotive or other manufacturing industries may be considered if their planning experience transfers well to this environment. Compensation and Other Details Target base salary of $85,000-$95,000, with some flexibility for the right person 6% discretionary bonus Monday through Friday, approximately 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Fully onsite; no remote or hybrid option Minimal domestic travel Local candidates are preferred Relocation candidates may be considered, but there is no formal relocation package; limited assistance may be offered through a sign-on bonus The interview process includes a pre-employment assessment Work Authorization Applicants must already be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
