Job Description
Key Responsibilities Source and develop qualified trucking carriers, freight brokers, and transportation agents for middle-mile routes. Request, collect, and compare transportation quotes based on route requirements, equipment type, service frequency, and delivery schedule. Negotiate rates, payment terms, service expectations, and other commercial conditions. Analyze transportation costs and market rates to identify competitive and cost-effective solutions. Maintain an updated carrier database, including pricing, service areas, equipment availability, capacity, and performance history. Coordinate with operations teams to understand current and future transportation capacity needs. Assist with carrier onboarding and collect required documents, including operating authority, W9 forms, certificates of insurance, and service agreements. Verify that carriers meet the company's safety, insurance, and compliance requirements. Monitor carrier performance, including on-time pickup, on-time delivery, service reliability, communication, and exception handling Build and maintain long-term relationships with reliable carriers, brokers, and industry partners. Identify backup transportation resources to minimise service disruptions and capacity risks. Support urgent capacity sourcing and transportation issue resolution when needed Prepare regular reports on carrier pricing, transportation costs, capacity, and performance. Perform other transportation procurement and operations-related duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a related field is preferred. Previous experience in transportation procurement, carrier sourcing, freight brokerage, dispatching, or logistics operations is preferred. Familiarity with trucking operations, carrier networks, freight rates, and transportation equipment is strongly preferred. Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-management skills. Strong analytical skills with the ability to compare quotes and evaluate transportation costs. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets Ability to manage multiple sourcing requests and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and a sense of urgency.
Work Schedule Full-time position:
9:30am-6pm M-F Flexibility may be required to respond to urgent transportation needs or service exceptions.Pay:
