Respiratory Equipment Technician CareWell Health - 2.8 East Orange, NJ Job Details Full-time 1 hour ago Qualifications BLS Certification High school diploma or GED Productivity software Medication storage Full Job Description The Respiratory Equipment Technician manages medical gas infrastructure, cylinders, and delivery systems without providing patient treatment. This role focuses on logistics, safety, and hardware rather than clinical assessment. The RT tech maintains, cleans and assembles equipment at Carewell Health Medical Center. Respiratory Equipment Technician is responsible for ordering supplies, manages the cylinder inventory and services the central gas system.
Essential Functions:
Stock, track, and order respiratory supplies, including medical gas cylinders, ensuring adequate par levels in departments. Rounds on all patient care departments and central distribution to ensure the availability of medical gas cylinders meeting regulatory standards and replaced as needed. Maintains PAR levels of Respiratory Therapy Supplies. Placing supply orders with direct leader approval when necessary. Maintains proper documentation on purchase orders. Manages the stock of supplies and ensures stocked areas are organized and well kept, where applicable Receives, documents and stores as per site protocol a diverse range of medical gasses. Completes and documents assigned oxygen safety rounds. Rounds, documents, changes cylinders on all assigned medical gas manifolds. Manages the stock medication inventory and services the remote medication carts, where applicable. Transport and distribute respiratory equipment and supplies to patient care areas, laboratories, or on-site locations. Provides observations to identify and evaluate the state of equipment in order to maintain patient and equipment safety. Perform safety checks, routine maintenance, and functional tests on equipment to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., Joint Commission, OSHA). Maintains infection control standards throughout the department and in satellite locations. Maintains the safety and security of the cylinder inventory and centralized medical gas supply systems. Recognizes and responds to medical gas supply system alarms. Maintains equipment in a state of readiness. Manages equipment par levels in order to prevent rentals. Coordinates rentals with direct leader approval when necessary. Maintains medical gas and therapeutic supply levels within the department Communicates and collaborates with all members of the patient care team including nursing, pharmacy, receiving and transport staff. Assist Respiratory Therapists (RTs) with non-clinical tasks, such as setting up ventilators or delivering specialty kits and oxygen management. Documents all data and findings in a consistent, comprehensive and legible manner. Documentation includes, but is not limited to equipment logs, receivers, environment of care logs, repair tags, service reports and all other medical records compliance where applicable. Consults with immediate supervisor or assigned personnel for the ordering of the required medical gasses for the medical center. Manages communications between equipment technicians, clinical and biomedical staff. Provides on-call hours as needed. Other Duties Other duties and/or projects as assigned. Adheres to Carewell Health Medical Center Organizational competencies and standards of behavior. Minimum Education/Certifications High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider (HCP) Certification. Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications One year experience as a Respiratory Therapy Equipment Technician-Preferred. Experience with high pressure oxygen cylinders and electrical devices- Preferred. Demonstrates knowledge of the use of the respiratory therapy equipment and supplies that are required for respiratory therapy procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of the care, cleaning, disposition and storage of respiratory therapy equipment and supplies. Demonstrates knowledge of the management and security of stock medications
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
8am-4pm M-Fr and as needed
Physical Requirements :
Lifts a minimum of 10 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 5 lbs. and stands a minimum of 6 hour a day.
