Position Summary:

The Logistics Planner is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing domestic and international transportation activities to support the efficient, timely, and cost-effective movement of goods throughout the supply chain. This role collaborates closely with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, warehouses, customer service, supply chain planning, operations, suppliers, and customers to ensure transportation capacity, shipment visibility, regulatory compliance, and service performance objectives are achieved. This position serves as an individual contributor and provides logistics support across both domestic and international operations. The role is designed to provide operational flexibility, transportation planning support, cross-functional logistics coordination, and business continuity across the logistics function without direct personnel responsibility.

Position Responsibilities:

Plan, coordinate, and execute domestic and international shipments to support customer demand and operational requirements. Schedule and manage transportation activities with carriers, brokers, freight forwarders, ocean carriers, air carriers, and logistics partners. Monitor shipment status and provide transportation visibility throughout the shipment lifecycle. Resolve transportation issues, delays, service disruptions, and documentation concerns. Support routing decisions that balance service, transit time, and cost objectives. Communicate transportation risks and shipment exceptions to stakeholders. Coordinate shipments between manufacturing facilities, warehouses, customers, suppliers, and logistics providers. Support inventory flow through effective transportation planning and execution. Coordinate resolution of shipment discrepancies, shortages, damages, and delivery exceptions. Maintain transportation documentation and records. Maintain relationships with transportation providers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers. Support carrier performance reviews, KPI reporting, and service monitoring. Assist with transportation-related communications, escalations, and continuous improvement initiatives. Support compliance with transportation policies, customer requirements, and import/export processes. Utilize TMS, ERP, WMS, and reporting tools to manage transportation activities and logistics reporting. Analyze transportation data to identify trends and process improvement opportunities. Partner with Customer Service, Operations, Supply Chain Planning, Sales, Warehousing, Finance, and external logistics partners to support transportation execution and issue resolution. Participate in logistics and supply chain review meetings to identify transportation risks and service improvement opportunities. Support communication efforts related to transportation performance, customs concerns, and customer service objectives.

Position Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, International Business, Operations, or related field preferred. Equivalent transportation and logistics experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. 3-5 years of experience in logistics, transportation planning, supply chain operations, freight brokerage, freight forwarding, import/export coordination, or distribution environments preferred. Experience coordinating domestic truckload (TL), less-than-truckload (LTL), parcel, intermodal, ocean, air, and cross-border transportation activities preferred. Experience working with freight forwarders, customs brokers, domestic carriers, and international transportation providers preferred. Experience with TMS, ERP, WMS, and transportation reporting systems required. Working knowledge of domestic transportation operations and international logistics processes. Understanding freight routing, transportation scheduling, shipment tracking, customs documentation, and logistics execution practices. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment. Strong communication and coordination skills across operational and functional groups. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and transportation reporting tools. Experience developing KPI reporting and transportation performance metrics preferred. Ability to identify operational improvement opportunities and support process consistency.
