Manages water/wastewater treatment operations for multiple plants. Leads team of supervisors in the achievement of system goals. Manages budgets, negotiates purchase orders with vendors, and oversees ongoing improvement projects. Responds to customer concerns and problems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Supervisory functions include:

makes hiring and termination decisions; prioritizes assignments and directs work; develops and oversees employee work schedules and approves time away from work; provides and/or facilitates employee training and development; approves/processes employee concerns and problems and counsels or disciplines as appropriate; completes employee performance appraisals; determines or makes recommendations regarding new hire salaries and salary changes; and acts as liaison between employees and management. Oversees vehicle inspections to ensure safe and proper operation, inventories items, purchases parts, and schedules repairs. Conducts safety tailgate meetings to inform and educate employees regarding safety protocols. Will be required to drive a City vehicle for city business use. Performs related work as required.

Regional travel Frequently Local travel Required Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED At least ten (10) years of experience in water distribution/treatment systems of which one (1) year is in supervising personnel.

Foreign Education:

Applicants who have completed education outside of the United States must submit a foreign credential evaluation completed by a professional credential evaluation agency that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or the Association of International Credential Evaluators (AICE) . The evaluation must verify the U.S. equivalency of the degree and identify the comparable U.S. degree level. Applicants are responsible for obtaining and submitting the required evaluation documentation.

Required Licenses or Certifications Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.

• As part of the minimum requirements for all positions with the City of Laredo, a thorough background check and certified school transcripts will be required from all applicants who are offered employment.
