Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and Senior Logistics Specialist to join our fast-paced, dynamic team supporting a leading biotechnology client.

Contract-to-Hire Position Overview:
In this role, you will manage hands-on logistics and transportation activities at our Plano, TX facility, with a strong focus on hazardous materials and regulated shipments . The ideal candidate will have direct experience preparing, coordinating, documenting, and tracking hazmat shipments from origin through final delivery while maintaining compliance with applicable DOT, IATA, and 49 CFR regulations. Key Responsibilities Manage incoming and outgoing shipping activities at the Plano, TX site, providing hands-on support to Warehouse and Shipping staff. Prepare and coordinate hazardous materials shipments , including radioactive shipments when applicable. Determine the appropriate hazardous materials classification/category for shipments based on applicable regulations. Prepare and review Dangerous Goods Declarations (DGD) and other required shipping documentation. Coordinate and book hazmat/radioactive shipments with commercial and private carriers . Manage shipments from point A to point Z by air and ground , ensuring proper documentation, carrier coordination, and regulatory compliance. Coordinate both domestic and international shipments , including communication with carriers, internal stakeholders, and external partners. Manage freight movement, shipment tracking, delivery coordination, and resolution of transportation issues. Support inventory management and ensure accurate shipment and inventory records. Collaborate with Warehouse, Shipping, Operations, and other internal teams to ensure successful and compliant shipments. Develop and maintain logistics processes and standard operating procedures to improve operational efficiency and compliance. Troubleshoot shipment issues and proactively identify solutions to minimize delays and disruptions. Must-Have Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of hands-on logistics experience , preferably within a regulated, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or similarly regulated environment. Direct hazardous materials logistics/shipping experience with demonstrated knowledge of the processes required to prepare and move hazmat shipments.
Experience with:
Determining the correct hazmat classification/category . Preparing Dangerous Goods Declaration (DGD) forms and other required shipping documentation. Booking hazardous materials shipments with commercial and private carriers . Coordinating shipments by air and ground from origin through final delivery. Managing domestic and international shipments . Carrier coordination and freight management. Shipping documentation and regulatory compliance. Inventory management. Valid or recently expired
DOT/IATA/49 CFR
hazardous materials training/certification. Strong understanding of the hands-on steps required to successfully move regulated freight from Point A to Point Z . Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail. Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams and external partners. Ability to work independently while managing multiple shipments and priorities. Preferred Qualifications Radioactive materials shipping experience strongly preferred. Experience working within a biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device, laboratory, or other highly regulated environment. Knowledge of international logistics and international hazmat shipping requirements . Experience working with specialized carriers and transportation providers. Experience with regulated or time-sensitive materials. Radioactive materials shipping experience is highly preferred. INDBH #LI_MG1
