Job Summary:
The Supply Chain Planner is responsible for managing inbound shipping operations, maintaining inventory levels across warehouse locations, and supporting purchasing execution with the Senior Buyer. This role ensures timely, cost-effective, and reliable logistics performance while coordinating closely with warehouse, delivery, and sales teams.
Essential Functions:
Evaluate multi-modal shipping logistics to identify opportunities to improve (lower) shipping costs. Lead and implement logistics improvement initiatives that impact cost efficiency and service reliability across multiple locations. Develop product ordering plans (horizons) considering shipping options, weather, seasonal disruptions, and infrastructure issues. Maintain appropriate stocking levels across all warehouse locations. Ensure there is an accurate and effective intra-warehouse transfer process. Plan and direct warehouse periodic inventory counts. Direct warehouse leads on shipment priorities and receiving schedules. Use demand forecasts and historical data to adjust stocking strategies. Develop and communicate purchasing strategies and priorities to ensure optimal inventory levels and alignment with business goals.. Negotiate freight rates and terms when appropriate, in coordination with the Senior Operations Manager - Lubricants. Collaborate with Sales and Operations to align logistics with customer needs and seasonal trends. Coordinate with warehouse teams to ensure smooth receiving and inventory accuracy. Identify and implement improvements in shipping, receiving, and inventory processes. Support budgeting and cost control efforts related to freight and inventory. Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and company standards in logistics operations. Maintain documentation and reporting for logistics performance, inventory levels, and supplier service. Review and approve invoices. This position exercises independent judgment in evaluating logistics options, developing inventory strategies, and advising management on freight and supply chain improvements. All other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field preferred. 3+ years of experience in logistics coordination, warehouse operations, or supply chain management.
