This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the GM Defense Production Facility in Concord, North Carlina on a full-time basis (shift is four 10's, Monday - Thursday).

WHY:
The purpose of this role is to ensure minimal production downtime by overseeing material requirements and supply chain processes within the organization. Materials Analysts are the backbone of smooth operational workflows, lending their skills to enhance efficiency and support strategic decision making.
WHAT:
As a Materials Analyst utilize your expertise to ensure materials are available as needed for production and other business operations, thereby minimizing delays and optimizing costs.
HOW:
You will integrate with multiple organizations across the plant to align our GSC Materials strategy. What You'll Do (Responsibilities): Daily material management & floor support Monitor dock, warehouse, supermarket, and overflow areas; perform floor walks to verify material availability, FIFO, and visual management. Respond to emails and communications on shortages, non-conforming material, premium freight, and scheduling changes. Resolve min/max violations, overflow, and no-stock/lost-part situations using standard reports and escalation processes. Coordinate with Group Leaders, Team Leaders, and Material Handlers to ensure timely replenishment to point-of-use and correct issues impacting flow. Inventory control & data integrity Perform/coordinate cycle counts, precision counts, and third-party counts; reconcile discrepancies and process adjustments (DRs, scrap, miscellaneous adjustments). Analyze negative balances, MRB, non-conformance, damaged material, and variance reports; drive corrective actions to protect inventory accuracy and line delivery. Review and approve shipping requests, special shippers, and CCA/dealer-direct orders, ensuring compliance with export and trade controls. Improve material flow plans, supermarket design, DLOC sizing, min/max settings, packaging, and routing to reduce waste and premium freight. Launch, change & capacity management Support launch and change activities (new parts, engineering changes, PFEP updates, build events) to protect production. Resolve complex capacity constraints to prevent plant disruptions and reduce premium transportation. Analyze metrics related to supplier issues and sufficiency plans, driving issues to closure. Travel to plant locations as needed for onsite support of launch and build-out; work extended/non-core hours when required to resolve issues. Leadership & collaboration Lead large cross-functional projects/programs end to end, delivering measurable improvements and innovation. Partner with Manufacturing and other functions through clear, data-driven communication and effective influencing. Present concise, executive-level updates using storytelling and metrics to show progress and insights. Build strong relationships with Production, Quality, Engineering, and suppliers to align on future-focused solutions. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by constructively challenging existing norms and embracing change. Model "Be Bold" behaviors by driving accurate, timely results and promoting high team engagement and efficiency. Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications): Bachelor's degree, or associate degree with 2+ years of related experience, or 4+ years of related experience in lieu of a degree. 2+ years of professional experience, preferably in manufacturing, material handling, logistics, supply chain, education, or other roles requiring strong quantitative and problem-solving skills (e.g., mathematics) Candidate must either be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee or refugee) or a non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required export control authorization. Ability to build and maintain relationships locally and globally to overcome challenges and drive results Ability to balance multiple complex projects and assignments with a high degree of autonomy and accountability for results Ability to execute and navigate ambiguous processes or standard work Strong organizational skills, process oriented Comfortable with using creativity to accomplish tasks and goals What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications): 5+ years of related experience Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics , Engineering or related field Experience with inventory management software and ERP systems Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities Strong knowledge of supply chain processes and logistics Experience with data analysis and inventory management Knowledge of following GM systems/databases:
PPCR, GM
Timing Card, PPCs, PRTS, Jira, Jira Align, SharePoint, IBM Rational Team Concert (RTC), SAP Proven experience in a similar role within a manufacturing or logistics environment Project management certification or experience Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles #GMD GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
